Question about Dodge Stratus

1 Answer

Help!! I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus. The ac blows ice cold until I press hard on the gas. For example: If I press the gas hard to go up a steep hill or press it hard to pull into traffic in a hurry. Once I do this, the ac starts blowing warm air. It blows out of the right vents and it blows hard, it's just warm. I have had the freon checked as well as checking it for leaks and there were no problems. Any advice you can give me will be appreciated.

My 2004 dodge stratus 3.0 r/t Coupe, AC wont get cold, it blows hot air, and iv tried recharging it 2 times, whats worng?

if you have to recharge it twice, that should have indicated to you that there is a leak in the system
AC systems do not need any gas if the system is secure
Take it to an accredited ac specialist shop and have it repaired and gassed properly

My 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T has an issue with the AC. The heat works fine. When the AC is on it will blow cold air for a while but if I pull up to a redlight and idle for a few minutes, then it will start to...

Make sure your coolig fan(s) are running while the ac is on. I''m not sure how you now that you have sufficient refrigerant in the system, but I would also have that checked. Over filled systems can act that way too! Last but not least, high and low pressure switches should be checked, amd if all else fails, check the expansion valve.

My 04 dodge stratus heater/defrost doesn't work very good. You can take the dash control unit out and mess with the wires on the back of it and it will blow hot air for a little while. I use to do this...

Sounds like the control unit or wiring (since you could mess with the wiring to get it working). The controls aren't controlling the dampers in the ductwork to control hot/cold, etc.

Not blowing cold air !!

You need check the level with a gage while its on and blowing high on the low side the ac.
either it need R134a added ore you might have leak. Best thing is check the level first and if low add the dye to see where leaks out and then top off the ac until full but you cant over fill it ore it loc up the ac pump

2000 Dodge Stratus misses, or hesitates, when going up a hill or when at a stop and you have to let off the gas and then push it again to get it to go. In the winter, i smelled a sickly sweet smell wh

Heater core is a possibility, and monitoring your coolant level closely should tell you if it is leaking as level will go down. As far as hesitation goes, if check engine light comes on, a trip to autozone or Pep boys for a free trouble code scan, should point everyone in right direction rather than replacing parts by guessing. (much cheaper that way too)
