Make sure your battery cables aren't corroded, check both ends of the positive and negative cables. Make sure they are clean you an use a small wire brush or pieces of sand paper to clean them. If the cable is corroded down the middle or inside of you will need to replace it.

I have grand am gt 2002 most time it starts.replace starter and new battrie. when turn the keyno power to moter I have to turn the keys on and off couple time and then it starts up any ideas on whats

Could be issue with ignition switch or security system? If the starter motor won't crank, check voltage circuits at the starter. Usually two voltage circuits, one is battery voltage, hot all the time. The other voltage comes from crank position of ignition switch. That circuit could be routed through the neutral switch or clutch switch, depending on your tranny.

Any testing at starter make sure tranny is in park or neutral and the parking brake is set.

How do I know if my the reason my 2005 Grand Prix GT won't start is bec I need a new battery?

The clicking sound is coming from the starter. It could be a faulty solenoid, or you could be right about the battery. If the battery is too weak, the starter will not engage. A quick test is to turn on the dome light. If the dome light dims slightly when cranking and you hear the clicks it is probably the starter. If the light goes out or dims greatly, it is probably the battery. If the battery is weak, it is a good idea to have the charging system tested as well. If the battery is older than three years, it is probably just the battery.

06 pontiac grand prix wont start no clicking when you turn the key over even jump starting the battery, has dash lights & radio & parking lights. battery tested good. put a used starter & altinator on

Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.

PNP park neutral safety switch . Try moving gear selector to neutral . If it starts the switch is bad .
Voltage drop test starter circuit .
fusible relay ??? Now thats funny ! It's just a relay , not fusible relay ! A fusible link is a kind of fuse ,will melt with a short circuit. TEST ,TEST DON'T GUESS and if you can't test ,take it to a qualified repair shop. How to voltage drop test starter motor circuit
Starter Voltage Drop
The computer has nothing to do with it .

http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Free wiring diagrams ! Suggest you view a wiring diagram to see what all is involved in the starter circuit . NO starter relay ! Enter vehicle info. under system click engine, then under subsystem click starting . You will when you turn the key to start it send's B+ voltage to the PNP switch ,from there it goes to the S terminal on the starter solenoid . Very simple . Get a volt meter an test B+ voltage .

My grand am wont start. when i try to crank it turns over slowly without ever starting, which turns into to like a grinding sound that gets slower and slower until i am left with just a click click click...

Dear Sir,
As you said when you try to start sound come and end it with a click click sound it clearly symptoms that battery low and as you said light are also dim, if you charged battery same problem you have, then check wire which run from battery to starter is lose or not and 2nd wire which runs from battery to body ground if both are ok, then sir it is problem in starter motor armature is short with body, replace that or better replace full starter assay.

if you turn headlights on and turn key to start do you hear clicking? if so starter is possibly bad, lets trouble shoot your problem.suggest you check the fuses under hood in black box, make sure those are good. when you turn the key, you should hear at least a click or else the starter is not drawing current.try turning the headlights on and at same time turn the key and try to start, if lights go dim the starter is drawing current, does it click? if so then bad starter. if no noise at all,,still could be a bad starter.suggest that you remove the starter and have it checked out.also make sure the car is in park for sure before you do any of this. hope this helps!!

Sunfire gt 97 2.4L. car won't start, small

sounds like a starter solenoid went bad which it is easier to replace the whole starter assembly then just the solenoid and you can get one with a LLT Limited Life Time warranty.

Car wont start...sometimes

Sounds like a bad starter solenoid, usually cheapest and easiest to replace the starter and solenoid as a unit. It is always best to check for power between the solenoid and the starter with a test light, if the solenoid clicks but the test light doesn't light up you have found the problem in the solenoid.

1999 Poniac Grand Am GT wont start

If you just replaced the starter we can assume the starter is not your problem,be sure your cables are clean and tight from the battery to the starter. If they are clean and tight than check the starter relay. check to be sure the ground is clean and tight as well.
