but this is an electronic fuel pump that does not have a cable from the fuel paddle. I am assuming that there was a soloniod that was not opened in the pump that cuases it not to supply the injector. Please give me more info.
    Thanks

Hi,

You need to bleed the air out of the injector lines.
Do the following:
1. Relaese one injector nut at the top where the fuel line goes in.
2. Turn the engine over until just fuel comes out.
3. tighten the nut, and do this to the other 4 also.

If no fuel is coming out after turning the engine over for more then 10 secs.
Make sure you have pumped the fuel through using the pump on top of the fuel filter.

If you need more information let me know.

Thanks

Jason

Yes there is a fuel shut off solenoid which is in the side of the pump.
Check the fuse's first then check that you have power to the solenoid and a ground. If there is no power then start to look at relays and ignition switch.

If there is power then you should be able to hear it click on and off, remove it and try it.
If there is no clicking then the solenoid is faulty, if there is then you need to consider that the pump vane inside it is broken or your timing belt is broken.

The above are the only possible areas that can go wrong, try them and let me know.

Thanks alot for the respond. Could you kindly send me a photo of the pump where I can see the solenoid on? I had tried tested the electrical lines to it coming from the fuel paddle but yes there is power. Could you also show me where the pump vane is and if you can assist me with a spare vane which i will definitely pay for? Please get back to me at your earliest convenient. Thanks again..

Ok then you must take it to a diesel workshop because the vane is in the pump and if it is the timing belt then you will need to dismantled the front of the engine to replace it.

The injector pump is a very delicate component and you need specialized equipment to work on it.

Thanks again. And can you give me all the actual voltage reading on all six lines coming from the fuel paddle to the pump. I had done a test to the electricity on another vehicle which is exactly the same 1999 Nissan Terrano which uses the same kind of pump and still running. I found that all the readings are the same except one line which on the running vehicle shows no voltage (neutral line) where on my pump shows a little voltage but less then the other lines. This makes me thought that it was a control box problem and when I try to swap the control box to the running vehicle it started up with out any problem. I let it run for an hour with no sign of shortage or problem. Please let me know if you have any idea on this.
    Thanks

How does the diesel fuel system work -does it have a lift pump

The function of diesel fuel system is to deliver the diesel fuel to the engine clean of of purities at the right pressure. In most generating unit diesel engines, the fuel system loop consists of the following major parts:
1. Day Fuel Tank
2. Fuel Water Separator
3. Fuel Strainer
4. Fuel Supply Pump
5. Fuel Filter
6. Fuel Injection Pump
7. Injectors
8. Return line to the day tank
Hope it can help you.

How do you bleed a diesel pump jeep Cherokee turbo diesel 3.1 5 cylinder 2001

we dont have this engine here, USA.
but i have the WG jeep book,
starting page 12 , chapter 14

FUEL INJECTION PUMP BLEEDING
(1) If the fuel injection pump has been replaced,
air should be bled at the overflow valve before
attempting to start engine.
(a) Loosen the overflow valve (Fig. 18) at the
rear of the injection pump.
(b) Place a towel below the valve.
WARNING: WHEN CRANKING THE ENGINE TO
BLEED AIR FROM THE INJECTION PUMP, THE
ENGINE MAY START. PLACE THE TRANSMISSION
IN NEUTRAL OR PARK AND SET PARKING BRAKE
BEFORE ENGAGING THE STARTER MOTOR.
CAUTION: Do not engage the starter motor for
more than 30 seconds at a time. Allow 2 minutes
between cranking intervals.
(2) Crank the engine for 30 seconds at a time to
allow air trapped in the injection pump to vent out
the fuel injector drain tubes. Continue this procedure
until the engine starts. Observe the previous WARNING
and CAUTION.
(3) Tighten overflow valve.
HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL LINE BLEEDING
WARNING: THE INJECTION PUMP SUPPLIES HIGH-
-PRESSURE FUEL OF APPROXIMATELY 45,000 KPA
(6,526 PSI) TO EACH INDIVIDUAL INJECTOR
THROUGH THE HIGH-PRESSURE LINES. FUEL
UNDER THIS AMOUNT OF PRESSURE CAN PENETRATE
THE SKIN AND CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.
WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES AND ADEQUATE PROTECTIVE
CLOTHING AND AVOID CONTACT WITH
FUEL SPRAY WHEN BLEEDING HIGH-PRESSURE
FUEL LINES.
WARNING: DO NOT BLEED AIR FROM THE FUEL
SYSTEM OF A HOT ENGINE. DO NOT ALLOW FUEL
TO SPRAY ONTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WHEN
BLEEDING AIR FROM THE FUEL SYSTEM.
Bleed air from one injector at time.
(1) Loosen the high-pressure fuel line fitting at
the injector (Fig. 19).
(2) Crank the engine until all air has been bled
from the line. Do not operate the starter motor
for longer than 30 seconds. Wait 2 minutes
between cranking intervals.
(3) Start the engine and bleed one injector at a
time until the engine runs smoothly.

There is supply of diesel fuel from the lnjection pump but it seems no diesel going inside the chamber,,

Not enough information. What vehicle? What year? What kind of injection system? There are basically two kinds of diesel injection - injector pump and common rail.
I did notice you talking about an injector pump, but both these systems need a high compression pump to operate the injectors. On the older systems, the injector pump is connected via a gear system to either the crank or the camshaft, and its task is to supply fuel to the injectors in very much the same way as a distributor does on a petrol car.
Now, do you mean the header pump that supplies diesel to the injector pump, or do you mean there is diesel coming out of the injector pump between the pump and the injectors?
On the other system, which I assume you are talking about, diesel is supplied to a high pressure pump which keeps a rail at high pressure. All the injectors are connected to this rail - from there the name "common rail" - and the timing is supplied by the Engine Control Module (ECM) via electrical impulses. Now ,if you have diesel supplied to the common rail but the injectors are not popping, the problem is most likely with the ECM.
However, there is no way of helping you unless you supply more information.

Diesel 1989 F-250 set too long and will roll over

You may have to bleed the fuel system. There may be a very small air leak in the fuel supply line and after a long time idle, the fuel seeps bac into the tank, leaving an air lock in the pipe. When you go to start, this air makes its way into your injection pump & needs to be bled out before the engine will start. Begin from your fuel filter bleed valve, next the injection pump using the primer pump to transfer the fuel. Next loosen off the injector pipes and crank the engine over until fuel sprays form all the joints. Tighten injector pipes and start. It may run a bit rough for to begin with, but will soon even out. If it doesn't start, repeat bleeding of injectors.
