SOURCE: Transmission not going into overdrive

Check the modulator valve on top of the transmission, when this goes out, it usually will not go into overdrive.

SOURCE: transmission wont get into overdrive or reverse.

sounds like a 700r4 tranny thats usually what happens when they decide to quit you loose overdrive and reverse. About 900 to 1000$ to rebuild.

TCC(Torque Convertor Control(lockup)) sensor.Or another transmission control sensor. Bad sensor will cause erratic shifting. If your Check Engine light is on a code should show. Don't hesitate in getting a 2nd opinion. Try having Autoz... or another parts place hook it up. Add some Trans-x or other trusted additive to trans. fluid. Servos could be gummed up. WARNING: If you drive too long/many miles like that something really expensive will break.

I have a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice RS 2.2 4 cylinder automatic. It stalls and cuts out when coming to a stop. I have replaced the fuel pump, but it still stalls. What do you think the problem could be? ...

If it starts back up and does not stall when you put it in gear it is probably is a problem with the torque converter lock up solenoid, on some vehicles you can disconnect the connector on the side of the transmission to the lock-up solenoid and the transmission will work fine without lockup if you do not want to replace the solenoid.

1993 Chavrolet Cavalier it shakes badly in parking mode

Yes I have repaired both of these concerns on hundreds on 4 cyl. GM models most of the time the bad engine mount is the one on the passenger side of the car.And it is the TCC solenoid that gets stuck on.

Vibration when in gear, and stalling.

The problem is the torque converter solenoid. I had it happen on my 94 Cavalier a few years back and was a cheap fix at the local car mechanic. What happens is the transmission warms up and hits a certain speed where the solenoid engages, but then it sticks and won't disengage until it cools down sufficiently. When it sticks, it causes the car to shake when slowing down and will snub out the engine if you come to a stop.

GM had a concern with the lock up solenoid for overdrive. When you come up to a stop, put the transmission into neutral and then stop. If concern is gone, you need to replace the solenoid and service the transmission. The symptom you are explaining can also be a vacuum leak or an egr valve hanging open. When you talk about maintenance, have you had the plugs replaced?

93 beretta idles ok put in gear it dies highway driving ok but come 2 a stop it dies need help thank u

Does it feel like the transmission isnt disengaging and stalling the engine? If the transmission is automatic, it could be the lockout solenoid on the transmission. If it sticks, it will not disengage the transmission and cause the engine to stall when you come to a stop. Please let me know if this helps.
