My 2000 Kia Sportgage 4 wheel drive indicator light says its in 4 wheel drive when it is in 2 wheel drive. It tries to go into 4 wheel drive and 2 wheel drive off and on.

Read your owners manual

Then check for codes

I doubt you will get any Generic Codes,
but you can try

Then your off to a repair shop, to Look for Enhanced
Codes, in the module with the problem

Wheels hardly turn

does it still do the same thing? i'd say you overheated your grease in your suspension nearest the wheels. it could have seeped out. i would re-grease all the front end. take the wheels off and look around for damage. check your ball joints and steering linkages for anything unusual. just as a precaution, check your steering fluid too.

I have a 2000 KIA Sportgage SUV. and the fluid come out as fast as I can put it in.is it the rear freeze plug.

you already got warped cylinder head, compression from combustion chambers already have paths tru your water jacket and that's the cause water goes out just as you pour in.. need for cylinder head resurfacing or replace new head assembly..

Im losing brake fluid in my resivor as fast as i put it in what could be the problem? its a 1999 kia sportage

well, if fluid is going down. then you have a leak. either in the brake lines or a bad wheel cylinder. if you can not see the leak. have someone push on brake while you look under the car. if the lines you will see it spray out. but if you do not see anything check for brake fluid on the inside of back wheels if it has drum brakes in the back, this means a brake cylinder is bad.

I have a 19934x4 bought it with 4 wheel drive notworking. indicator lights for 4x4 would notlight up but transfer seemed to be shiftin ok. frontaxel woul ot ingauge. I repled the front axel actuator an works fine now no problem. actuator is on the passenger sid back of the front axel pigand has a plug, mine was 2 wireroundpin plug but some have a flat pin 4 wire plug. 70 dollars at NAPA. wasa realy simple replacement didnt even need to jack up the truck. the actuator h a pin that electronically puses out engauging te front axel. a easy test is to put the truck in 4 wheel high. holdthe brak and givei little gas ad havesomeoneelse stand to the side ofthe front of the truck and see if the front axel spins. ifso th actutor is te most likely prblem. hope this helps.

Losing brake fluid(2001 kia sportage)

Check the rear wheel cylinders if you have drum brakes on the rear. Check the master cylinder cap to be sure it's on right & snug. Use D.O.T. 3 fluid, not synthetic. If you're losing fluid there's a reason. Check the front brake pads & slides for the calipers, could be frozen with rust & eating up the pads. Fluid would seem low if the pads are shot.

Front End Problems

first i would check the tires , are they cupped or chopped on the tread? run your hand over the tread and see if it feels rough and uneven. take the truck to a auto repair shop and have them jack both front and rear axles off the ground, put the truck in 2 wheel drive and run the speedometer to the speed you usually hear the roaring noise, if you don't hear the noise , put the truck in 4 wheel drive, turn off the traction assist if it has one and run it to the speed you would hear the noise. if you hear the roaring noise with tires off the ground, the problem is in the drivetrain, (engine, transmission, transfer case, u-joints, differentials or the front left or right cv halfshafts or u-joints). the older models (97 98) had the front two driveshafts from the differential turning all the time, they engaged in 4 wheel drive from the transfer case and a solenoid on the front differential. depending on the miles you have on this truck, the most likely areas i would look at would be the tires, u-joints/cv joints, and front and rear wheel bearings. thanks and good luck.
