Question about Buick Electra

1 Answer

I changed my oil in my 2003 buick myself this time, instead of taking it to the garage to save money. Now I can't get the "Change oil soon" light to go out. What do i need to do or how can I get it to go out?

Try to reset the computer. And then check CHANGE OIL SOON LIGHT is there. Try this procedure:--
Turn the key to the "Run" position when the car is not on.
Then slowly press the gas pedal
completely down and then release it. Do this three times within a period of 5 seconds. If the "Change Oil Soon" light blinks, the oil monitoring system is in the process of being reset.Turn the vehicle key to the "Off" position.Start the car. The "Change Oil Soon" light should come on for a few seconds (as all the monitoring lights do), but then go off. If this is the case, you have completed resetting the "Change Oil Soon" light. If the light stays on after a few moments of the car running, the system has not been reset. You must again follow the steps to reset your "Change Oil Soon" light. It will get reset after few tried. If not on first time . Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

This work at 2001, but you could try it:

How do you turn off the "CHANGE OIL SOON" light

For Buick Le Sabre, 1995-99, when "CHANGE OIL SOON" light is on:
  • Access the reset button in the glove box (refer to car manual if required).
  • With the engine off, set the ignition switch to the RUN position
  • Press and hold the reset button in the glove box for at least 5 seconds
  • The light should blink a few times (4) then go out!
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

My dash lights come on at all different times, saying change oil soon, when i change it every 3000mi..and somtimes the service engine soon light comes on..then goes off, then comes on,what do i do

These looks like normal service indicators, I would have thought they would be reset via the diagnostics terminals by the servicing engineer.

Once of course, when the indicated unit had been serviced. I think you may have to go to a garage and get them reset but take care that whatever is indicated gets the attention it needs.
