I'm pretty sure the 1985 Tercel does not have a hydraulic clutch and, therefore, needs no fluid. My '85 Tercel has a cable operated clutch, which I just replaced.

Reservoir should be on the firewall near the brake M/C. Look for a little cup like in pic below with a tube coming out the bottom. That tube goes to your clutch M/C as you can see in the photo.

No clutch pressure

You have a hydarulic clutch, if this condition came on slowly you may just need an adjustment, some models have adjustments available down by the clutch pedal area. otherwise you could have a fluid leak or component failure. check to see if the clutch fluid resevoir is full, if not, fill it with the proper fluid and see if you can bleed the air out of the system. if it is full then you probably will need to replace the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder.

How do u bleed the clutch on a 1985 toyota celica

See instructions below from autozone.com. If the clutch still has air after following this procedure, try back bleeding by pushing the slave piston in while the bleeder is open, then closing bleeder before releasing the piston. This is similar to bench bleeding the slave, in case you didn't do that before the installation.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM BLEEDING This operation must be performed any time the clutch master or slave cylinder has been removed or if any of the hydraulic lines have been opened.

WARNING Do not spill brake fluid on the bodywork of the vehicle; it will destroy the paint. If fluid is spilled, immediately wash the surface with plenty of clean water.

  1. Fill the master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid.
  2. Remove the cap on the bleeder screw on the clutch slave cylinder. Install a clear vinyl hose on the fitting; place the other end submerged in a clear glass jar partially filled with brake fluid.
  3. Have an assistant pump the clutch pedal slowly several times. After several pumps, hold the pedal down and open the bleeder, allowing fluid to flow into the jar. Close the bleeder valve almost immediately after opening it. Release the pedal only after the bleeder is closed.
  4. Repeat the process until the fluid in the hose contains no air bubbles. tube. When there are no more air bubbles in the system, tighten the plug fully with the pedal depressed. Replace the plastic cap.
  5. Fill the clutch master cylinder reservoir to the correct level with brake fluid.
  6. Check the system for leaks.

Where do I fill the transmission fluid on an 1985 toyota tercel?

Same place you check the fluid level on an A/T equipped vehicle. On a manual transmission equipped vehicle there is a plug on the upper side of the transmission that must be removed the check the level and add lube.

Where do i refill the transmission fluid for 1995 toyota tercel

Most fills on front wheel drives is through a small opening through the transmission dipstick tube. Using a small funnel, fill partially, start car and run through all gears one at a time, then check fluid level and add, then run through gears again until the proper level has been attained. That's the easiest way. Standard transmission are through the fill cap/dipstick combo as well.

I need to know how much transmission fluid a 1985 toyota tercel takes so as not to over fill

How much you drained out is a pretty good indication However start with 3.5 litres and go from there Make sure you check dipstick with motor running in neutral

Does the clutch pedal feel any harder or softer than ussual?it could be the clutch and pressure plate are worn or hopefully just that the master or slave cylinder is leaking. The master cylinder is under the hood opposite side to the steering wheel and slave cylinder at the gearbox
