Question about Ford Expedition

1 Answer

My 97 expedition is getting spark. If I spray starting fluid in the air intake it starts right up and stops when I stop spraying. There was no warning. after work the thing just wouldn't start. I never heard of the reset button before. could that be it?

Yes there is fuel cutout switch in case you roll over or hit really hard to prevent fire. but your fuel pump probably died , unfortunately it is located inside the gas tank.

96 ciera 2.2 ran fine. parkedat night next morn wont start.its getting fuel and fire but sounds like its not even trying to start

Check for spark.. pull one spark plug out set it on bare metal(away from cyl hole fuel could light from spark) turn vehicle over and look for spark should be a nice lightning bolt looking spark... blue spark is weak spark.. and see if it's getting spark...,, if not,,."try new plugs.,wires, distributor cap&rotor " also first.spray a little starting fluid down the injection system turn it over and see if it fires.if it does then it's a fuel issue prob not electrical... try that.hope it helps

97 geo will not start

You probably know, an engine needs compression, fuel, and spark at the right time to start. So one of those three components are missing.
Will it try to start if you use starting fluid sprayed into the intake? Have you checked compression on all cylinders ? Is the spark blue or white, or is it yellow ?

1997 voyager will start sometimes and wont sometimes

I suspect you have a failing electric fuel pump inside the fuel tank. To confirm this is the problem get a can of spray starting fluid from the auto parts store, when you experience the next no start spray the starting fluid into the air intake hose to the engine while a friend cranks it over with the starter, if it starts right up you likely have a defective fuel pump.

Won't start. turning, but won't fire.

If you think its fuel, spray some starter fluid inthe throttle body. If it fires up, you have a fuel problem, otherwise, check your spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Also, check your fuses.

1997 ford expedition will not start turns over

Try spraying starting fluid into the intake of the air cleaner while someone else starts the car. Keep a continual spray going while the car is cranked. If the car starts more than likely the fuel pump went out.

Truck will not start. it cranks but will not start. i was driving and came to a stop light, truck sputtered and cut off. i put it in park and started it again, it ran for 10 yards and cut off again. after...

sounds like a poss fuel pump failure, get a can of spray starting fluid from a car parts store, spray it in the air intake to the engine, if it starts you need a new fuel pump, if no start still u have a loss of spark and need to have the trouble codes tested, there will be a code for what caused the loss of spark.

1998 expedition wont start

first of all its not good to spray starting fluid into the intake, its got a plastic "LOWER"intake and it can blow apart and **** too much air through it.Next reset the computer and it can be done by un-hooking the battery cable for a few minutes and if this works and runs for a while and does this again, then reset the computer again. If it does it again then maybe replace the computer..Then also check the fuel pump,it may sound like its working but it could have gotten hot and the plastic gear on the end may not be pushing fuel through when it runs for a while.
