Need a pic and specs on a 1979 gmc sierra grande carburetor

That is a Rochester carburetor--4 barrel, and these carburetor are notorious for problems. It's a hassle to repair because some of the flat plug in the passage ways will leak. We just drill them out, and install new plug with epoxy after the carburetor body has been thoroughly cleaned. Go to you local library they should have a repair manual on Rochester carburetors, or look on the Internet it has everything in it networking. GB...stewbsion

Could some one tell us how the excelerator pump linkage on the float bowl side hooks up to the engine, that's a carburator for a 1968 chevy step van. the carburator is a rochester monjet # 7040021

Looking at an exploded view of your carburator in my Chilton book it would appear to me that the accelerator pump hooks to the throttle linkage on the opposite side from the throttle cable. On that end it shows a small plate that screws into the throttle shaft. This plate has 2 links attached to it, one of which should line up with a hole in the side of the main body. You will probably have to push the pump down by hand to line up the hole in the bottom of the pump arm with the hole in the body and attach the linkage.
There is no specific info in the book regarding this, just the diagram. Hope this helps.

1992 jeep wrangler with faulty acceleration. It

It is possibly the O2 sensor. I had some issues with early 90's 4.0 liters where the O2 sensor would stick rich under heavy acceleration and would cause it to lean out and bog down. It felt like a rochester four barrel flat spot on an old chevy. I hope this helps.

Accelerator pump problem

I would change gas brands, it may be an additive they use, have seen this before on my own car, a 1973 NOVA, I went to a carb shop they sold me a Viton rubber pump, changed gas brands installed the pump and problem went away.
