Question about 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24

Open Question

1988 Chevy Cavalier 2.0L engine starts, runs for less then a minute (while pumping the gas peddle), then dies. then have to let set for 10-15 minutes then repeats as before. if you try to start before this time it just cranks and won't start, looks like something is stopping the fuel (gas) at the injector. can see fuel spraying from the injector for less then a minute then stops. have replaced the fuel regulator diaphragm, fuel injector, fuel filter, the in tank fuel pump & strainer, throttle position sensor, and the sensor in the air intake (just before the throttle body) the head was machined and reinstalled about three months ago, it seamed to run good , other than the idle seamed to be a little low like at stop lights- signs but not so low it would die. while driving down the highway, would feel a surge every once in a while. I am unemployed and running out of money so please HELP! ddkulm@hotmail.com

because the combustion inside the engine is going wrong the quantity of air getting inside is not the needed quantity maybe less than or more in cold will cause such problem once the engine warm up than the engine temperature is up you will not find this problem because the point of firing will be near

91 Lumina won't stay running; see lots of same question for same car but no problem solvers....Please help.

On electronic fuel injection pumping an pumping an pumping the gas pedal does nothing without the engine running ! Pushing the gas pedal to the floor will cause the PCM - engine computer to go into clear flood mode .

You have some very interesting ideas here , but not really how it works or is !

The vehicle will go into closed loop fuel control when the engine coolant temp reaches a definded temp an the O2 sensor get hot.

She would run for a couple minutes and die which is open loop when running, closed loop is when the sensors kick and it would die. Pulled spark plugs, they were black meaning no spark. Can only be 2

Black spark plugs indecate a rich condition , over fueled , wet spark plugs indecate no spark .

My 1988 chevy 2500 has been so reliable until it stated to stall.

Could be. But more then likely it's the gas. The gas you get these days from the pumps will gunk up after around 30-40 days. I'ld change the fuel filter see if that works. If not you might have to take the tank out to clean off the pickup sock. It's a small filter type on the end of the fuel pump. Of course, you should do a pressure test to see first.

Engine starts but dies immediatly unless i keep pumping gas

Check the electrical for key on power to the fuel pump relay, it sounds like the pump will only run in the start position.
