Question about 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I just replaced the transmission fluid in it and the filter as well, using the recommended fluid because the transmission was having a hard time going from 1st to 2nd gear. Know that i replace the fluid it is having trouble shifting into drive, reverse, and when driving sometimes it slips out of gear. This is an automatic transmission as well. Any recommendations?

They way you replaced fluid is bad, you should of done a bg service, by dropping the pan theres still oldoil ,the converter is full and the lines and the cooler and inside trany, then when new fluid is added the cleaners in it loosen all the dirt and seend it through the trany, the bg flushes 100% of the old fluid so no mixing of old contiminated and new oil is taking place.

Transmission gasket leaking

Very easy BUT messy to replace.. A filter and gasket kit is less than $20. Just remove all of the bolts on the transmission pan with a drain pan underneath... Replace the filter inside. Clean the pan and transmission surfaces and install with the new gasket. Do not use gasket sealer unless instructed to... Then re-fill with recommended fluid. Check fluid level with engine running.

Once the ****** slips and assuming the fluid is full it will need to removed from the truck and rebuilt. Sorry.

Just bought a 1999 4wd jeep grand cherokee with 215k miles on it, what is some things i should do/replace to this jeep?

Check all the fluids and make sure they are good. i.e. diffs. oil, transmission, coolant, transfer case fluid, air filter. Use high mileage oil. Check the belt for cracks, usually it will start squealing a bit when it needs to be replaced. Tightening it will not help.

Tranny slips when shifts from 2nd - 3rd when it's cold.

When is the last time you changed your Transmission Fluid? It is recommended you change it every 30,000 miles. If you check your fluid it should be a pinkish red clor, if it is brown, it is dirty. If it is brown and smells burnt it means you may have Transmission damage, burnt clutches, etc.Change your fluid and filter and see it it will work better.

2000 jeep grand Cherokee transmission problem very sluggish on start transmission fluid looks liked like strawberry milkshake, so i went to jiffy lube had them pump out the old tranny fluid and put fresh...

water in the tranny fluid. could be problem with the two fluids mixing in a faulty radiator. note that flush only gets about half the fluid, the rest is in the torque converter

My 1999 jeep grand cherokee sometimes shifts wrong

check to see if your fluid is low or burnt. if it is low then just add enough to cover the fill mark on the dipstick. if it is burnt, remove the transmission pan and filter and replace the filter. then add new transmission fluid.

Jeep grand cherokee transmission clunk

well then it sounds to me as if you need a transmission replacement...a flush or service at this point won't do you any good, as the transmission is using the contamination in the fluid to build pressure. so if you flush it all away, then the new fluid is way too thin to build any pressure...just replace your transmission....
