Question about 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Open Question

I have an 03 Silverado 2500HD with the Duramax diesel engine. Basically when I stop the truck it seems like it is lunged forward, and when i take off from a stop, the tail end feels like it falls back into place sort of like a "thud". I guess the feel is the same of that when you pull a really heavy trailer and you can feel the trailer hit the ball when you stop, and when you take off there is that brief second of play before the ball snatches the trailer to pull it. I am completely stumped, I have replaced the Ujoints and redid the suspension. I guess I am left with either the Allison tranny, the rear end, or something else. Please help

SOURCE: 4X4 inop on 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD

I have found that when you are going to engauge 4x4 high, it is best to only be going about 3 miles an hour. Not faster, not stopped. It likes some movement to help it mesh. I've had perfect shifts since I started this. Hope it helps. Wade.

SOURCE: Trailer harness - Red wire has no power

Hi: under the hood in the power distribution box there is a 40 Amp fuse that has to be installed to power up the trailer package. When standing looking from the front left fender it should be at the front right corner, refer to the power distribution diagram on the cover. As well under the box by the spare tire is a plug in type module mounted on the frame. There should be 2 wire harnesses located there, make sure the correct plug in is connected. Hope this helps... please rate suggestion .... ty

SOURCE: 01 duramax allison changed fluid and filters now in limp mode

Make sure you have the proper amount of tranny fluild in it and get that Valvoline fluid out of it. Allison transmissons have there own type of tranny fluid and you want to use it. You can buy the right stuff from a Allison dealer. Most Detroit Diesel dealers are also Allison dealers. Look them up in your phone book and they will tell you the quanity and sell you five gallon pails of the fluid. Just get the serial number off of the side of the transmisson before you call. Change the fliters again too. Believe me, this is important. My company has Yard horses with Allison transmissions and you don't want to screw with the small stuff. Service them right and they work as hard as you want.

My 03 duramax started fine this morning but only ran for a fiew minnuts then shut off on its own and now it wii turn over but not start it seems to have fuel pressure can it be cam sensor or crank sensor...

To start with, a Duramax Diesel runs on an excess of 20,000 Psi of fuel pressure. Unless you have some specialized equipment,(and know how to use it) I do not know how you could possibly tell that the fuel pressure is OK.

Duramax Diesels also have had a lot of problems with glow plugs. This could explain why it will not start. Then again, it COULD be something totally different like a bad sensor. This could even be caused by a faulty fuel pressure sensor or a bad fuel pressure regulator.

The best way to find out is to scan the engine computer for fault codes and read the engine data from the computer to see if all of the sensors are providing the correct input to the computer.

2500 hd duramax crew cab 4 WD pulls right. Both

First try rotating the tires to the rear. Does it go away? If you apply the brakes does it pull to the left? Could be a draging caliper or the slides may be hanging up.

To rebuild without pulling the engine you will have to remove most of the front body ( grille , radiator, intercooler, etc.)
