Question about 2007 Hyundai Accent GS Hatchback

1 Answer

The care will not start after going short distances. The battery has been replaced and the alternator has been checked and it is fine. All the instruments on the panel work, lights and radio work. The starter seems to be fine, because you can hear it trying to start.

Hi, if everything works and the alternator has been replaced as you said and the problem still persist, then check the crankshaft position sensor........

Drove short distance with serpentine belt off, started once after that and now nothing.

Have the alternator checked. You might have a bad voltage regulator (which is often housed in the alternator).

I have a 1999 Mercury Sable and accidentally installed the battery backwards. Replaced blow fuses and the car ran fine. After sitting idle for 3 days, returned to find the new battery dead. A jump start...

Check and make sure your termimals to the battery are clean and tight. You can find out if the alternator is charging by simply starting the car and while it is running take the negitive cable off the battery. If the car quits its not charging (have the alternator check) if the car keeps running it is working properly. If it is charging and all your termimals are tight and clean you may have shorted out the battery and ruined it by hooking it up backwards. Good luck

My alternator went out so i replaced and its working fine but my battery still keeps dying its not takin the charge from the alternator and when i charge the battery it will start and drive some distance...

Sounds to me like your alternator is still defective. You don't need a good battery to run a car. Start car and remove ( not allow it to touch any metal), negative battery cable. If car dies it is the alternator. If it runs then the battery is bad. Hope this helps.

My battery light has suddenly come on and the alternator has started to make a noise do i require a new one or is there something else i should be looking at.this is on a ford focus st year 2006.

My ST alternator took some time to completely fail. During the decline, I saw all kinds of random electrical issues. My advice-go ahead and replace the alternator unless you don't mind needing to tow the car (or you travel really short distances). At some point, you'll find every electrical system completely shut down (one of your computers will funnel all available battery energy to the engine and fuel pump). From that point you've got a very short distance till the battery is exhausted. This doesn't mean the battery is toast!

Having the system tested is of little value. My car-the "BATT" light was ON when it was tested, and I was told it needed a new battery. Indeed, until the very end, the voltage provided by my alt was about 14.4VDC-even with the light on.

Replace the alternator now or do it later after a tow.

Will start and run fo a short distance and cut off. I had the battery checked and charged and it tested ok. could it be the alternater?

Could be..... the batery is just used for starting, once the engine is running it pulls electric power from the altinator, if the altinator which also charges the batery, is not working power is pulled from the battery, and when the battery goes dead, the car does too. When the Car turns off, do you then need to jump it to start it? if so you could be pretty convinced that the altinator is the issue

Replaced alternator and battery 2x and only works for short time.

This could be caused by a faulty voltage regulator, but since it has happened on more that one alternator, that can't be the problem, right? The next thing that I would look at would be a defective or loose belt. Also check the tensioner to make sure it is working properly and is keeping tension on the belt. If the belt is slipping or is worn out, it will cause voltage fluctuations. You may want to look at changing or at least inspecting the belt. Hope this helps and best wishes.

I just had a new alternator put in, hoses replaced. But now if I go anywhere (short of long distance) when turn off the engine, it won't start again for at least 1/2 hour. I checked the oil and antifreeze,...

Have the starter checked out. A faulty starter will mimic a bad battery or bad alternator in that it will start the car/truck fine when it's cold but when it gets hot, will act like there's no power. The lights horn, radio will work but won't start because the starter is hot and requires more power to function. Best of luck.

Battery won't stay charged while running. Alternator is fine tho.

It seems that your battery is not getting its charging amount from the rectifier which comes from the dynamo when the engine is in running condition. So just your rectifier and check the output of the dynamo to be sure thats OK............sodeep
