Hi, disconnect your negative battery cable. Locate and remove the screws that hold your interior door handles in place (they may be hidden by snap in, or snap on clips). Remove the interior door handles, then disconnect the wire clips to the switches. Your panel is held in place by snap in clips; use a small pry bar to pull them from the door (try to get as close to, or directly under the clips to prevent them from tearing out of the door panel). Once the clips are pulled, pull the panel upward to remove it from the door.
Install in reverse.

The operating mechanism is cables and they have screwed up ,now as to remove the trim ?? as yet i havent done one but first i would look for any screws with a plastic cover over them and if you do not see any then try pulling the trim back as it could just be push on plastic clips ,now as for the cable mechanism i find these are cheaper in the vw garage than the auto factor as in vw you can buy the spool with the cables on but the pattern part one is a complete unit

Right rear window will not go up 2005 VW bug convertible what is wrong?

Can you hear the motor whirring when the switch is activated? VW makes the bracket that holds the window out of plastic. You cannot buy a replacement bracket, so most likely the window regulator is broken and it needs to be replaced.

If you do not hear the motor, then the switch could be bad, or agin the regulator may need to be replaced. It's expensive to fix VW windows.

Sounds like a window regulator clip problem. VW extended the warranty on these years ago, but only on front windows.
It's possible vw might do it under warranty. Call their 1-800 # and ask...
There are tutorials on how to replace one online, but it's pretty involved...
