Can a bad thermostat cause a transmission not to shift properly in a 2002 chevy impala?

It is absolutely possible for this to be the case. When the thermostat is not reading the temperature of the coolant properly, the engine ECU or computer will sometimes not allow the transmission to shift either correctly or at all. I have a ford ranger that will not shift into overdrive on cold days until the engine has gotten up to a warmer temperature. This is because the ECU is limiting the transmission from shifting into overdrive while the thermostat is still registering cold temperatures. Now if the transmission is shifting rough or randomly, that could be another problem like a shift solenoid inside the transmission. But as far as your original question, yes a bad thermostat can definitely be a possible reason for a transmission not shifting "normally". Hope this helps.

My hyandai accent is sputtering and not shifting gears properly

FROM WHAT I JUST HEARD ON THE VIDEO ,IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR ENGINE NEEDS TO BE TUNED-UP . IF THE ENGINE IS NOT PROPERLY TUNED THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT WORK AS ITS SHOULD .THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WORK INSINK WITH EACH OTHER ,SO HAVE THE ENGINE EVALUATED BEFORE CONDEMMING THE TRANSMISSION .THEN PROCEED TO TEST THE TRANSMISSION .EG, STALL TESTING AND SHIFTING PATTERN .

Sorry to say, but the mini vans have always been plagued with poor transmissions. Unless you know anything about transmissions you will need to take it to a transmission shop somewhere for diagnosis.

a transmission that has wear tends to leak and a fluid change may not help instead make matters worst and the loud sound is bad news yes the transmission build pressure and blew it it's not common to blow fusses that unless is the fuse for the transmission or they disturbed any wire harness.
