Question about Nissan King Cab

1 Answer

97 nissan 4x4 kingcab 4cyl 5 spd manual When outside temperatures are warm to hot engine will cut-out, not die and idle smoothly around 1K rpm after about an hour or so of driving. Acts like it is not getting any fuel. When you give it gas, it sorta chugs and then returns to 1K smooth-as-silk idle speed when you take your foot off the gas. Shutting the engine off for at least 15-30 sec. clears whatever the problem is. It can occur again in as little as 5 minutes or not at all for days, even months. Have cleaned the fuel system and installed new filter. The check engine light is now on and was told it was a faulty c02 censor connection.

Have you cleaned the throttle body and throttle body valve? have you cleaned the idle speed control air bypass valve? are the injectors clean? Are there any fault codes in memory, do the things I mentioned if you haven't already. Also hard engine mounts can cause roughness at idle. Another thing is the timing belt tight?

It could be a combination of 2 things. A faulty MAP sensor itself or a bad TPS (throttle position sensor). It's not uncommon for a bad TPS to idle when the motor is cold but once warm, not idle fast enough to keep the vehicle running.

1998 isuzu amigo 2.2l 5 spd 4 cyl .\r\ni need to

in all fuel injected cars you do not adjust idle. All you can do is clean the throttle and replace the Idle Air Control valve and check data thru a scanner to see if any sensors are out of specs. If this car has a maf sensor in the air filter tube it could become contaminated and cleaning or replacemnet will allow it to see more air which in turn allows the computer to add more fuel for better idling and accelration.

97 nissan 4cyl pickup w/145,000mi. stalls with air cond on, runs fine w/off, replaced feul filter( didnt fix it)

try a tps throttle posistion sensor the engine is not idling fast enough with the ac on thats why it stalls if you have a manual adjustment on the throttle body speed the engine up 150-200 more rpm this should solve the problem.

Rough Idle, oil pressure tanks, kills jeep.

If your vehicle was purchased in the USA, it is against federal law for a dealer to sell it without a cat. If you are somewhere else, I have no idea what laws are. I have no idea what "cruising with the clutch" means.
Your oil pressure dropping may only show that at the same time the engine has stalled or is turning so slow that you are not making enough oil pressure. I would check the throttle position sensor, map sensor and idle air control valve for proper readings and operation, also check for minor vacuum leaks. It seems that your idle is too low and allowing the engine to stall. There are other things that can cause this besides what I mentioned but those are the main ones I'd check first. Testing can be done with a decent multi meter and using a chiltons or haynes manual as a guide.
Control systems need testing to get a proper diagnosis...That's one thing I can't do from here.
Do the testing and likely you will find the problem. Many larger parts stores will do a free code scan...that too is helpful.
Good luck
