SOURCE: How do I remove brake drum on 2005 toyota corolla

Under normal circumstances, the drum should slide right off once the wheel is removed.

If you have built up rust holding it on, there are two threaded holes near the center of the drum to aid in removal.
Insert two 12mm bolts into the holes and, while adding plenty of lubricant, turn the bolts in even amounts until they push the drum off.
Be sure to keep them lubed, as they will strip out easily if not.

If you have aftermarket drums without the holes or the screwholes are stripped out, smacking the face of the drum with a dead blow hammer will help free it up, but takes much longer for success.

My Toyota Corolla 1.6 XLI 1993 won`t start. When I open the door the alarm goes off but without any sound. After a while the indicators stops blinking, then I try to start it again, but it doesn't even...

I'd start by reprogramming your alarm. You'll never get it to crank without first disabling it or removing it. Your owners manual will give detailed instructions as to how to do this.

Check the starting circuit. Start at the battery. Load test it (or have the auto parts store do it...most perform this test for free). If that is ok, check the wires to the starter solenoid. Look for loose connections, bolts, and/or corrosion. If you have power there, and it will not crank, It should be your starter or solenoid. It will be sold to you rebuilt or new and will come complete as one unit as the solenoid is integral to the starter. Make sure you do not have an alarm that is armed. I think that is a non issue on this particular year. My best guess is that the starter needs a replacement and that you should service the connections from thje battery to the starter and be back on the road.

1992 toyota corolla starter replacement

If you like doing your own repairs, I'd like to recommend having a Haynes service manual on hand; it will give you all the info you need to do home-based repairs:

We have a manual for each of our vehicles and even when a job is destined for a workshop, you can get a rough idea of how much labor it entails and therefore how much it should cost.

I have the starter loose but can not get it out. Do I need to remove something to get it out of the car. It is a 1997 toyota Corolla.

Below are the step by step instructions per Chilton Automotive Guide for 1997 Corolla:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly (with hose).
  3. Disconnect all the wiring from the starter terminals.
  4. Remove the starter mounting bolts. Remove the starter.
My guess is its the air cleaner assembly that's in your way. There's no mention of a cross brace or guard that should be in your way. Best of luck!

Where is the starter on a 1993 Toyota Carolla?

To locate the starter, follow the large red battery cable down away from the battery until you come to a round gold and black unit with electrical wires connected to it. It will be bolted to the side of the engine, towards the bottom of the engine.

Before you can remove the starter, you MUST remove the black large cable from the battery.

If you would like to contact me again about this or other problems, feel free to do so.
