SOURCE: pcm ford freestar protection

The PCM is the main computer on most Fords

It does have powertrain functions, such as your

There is no fixing a PCM,they are cleaned ,tested & repaired,
in a factory, in the aftermarket parts supply chain

There is no changing a transmission

You either remove the trans & rebuild it or
you install a factory reman

You never,never--- install a used salvage yard trans

PCM's hardly ever fail. There is only about a 3%
chance of that.

Given your vehicles transaxle history,I would say it
is shot & needs to come out & do as I mentioned above

The freestar & whatever it was called before, has the worst
transaxle failure rate bar none in the industry

May want to get away from the all to popular van type vehicles

All the vans for the last 30 years fail early & many times

Transaxles in general are not good at all, even changing the
fluids often, unfortunately rear drive is almost gone, that is the
way to go,but who wants a big heavy suv

Water won't be an issue for the PCM

If & I don't know you have an asian trans in there with a
module on the trans ,then water may be a problem

I would hope you mechanic is at a trans shop,as anywhere
else I don't think your in the correct place to diagnose the issues

If you think about your question, you want someone to tell your
professional mechanic, how to do their job ,as your not going
to work on it yourself.

We only can offer so much, mostly guesses,as you need
any product to road test & do some testing

That is a Torque Converter Clutch code it is reading that the circuit performance is stuck off. try these solutions one at a time. 1. check transmission fluid level. 2. add lucus trans treatment. 3. replace sensor. 4 replace torque Converter. Erase code after each action.

My 2007 pt cruiser wont work in reverse

Try to add LUCAS OIL transmission anti-slipp additive. It helps smooth the shifting. If this helps you need to replace transmission fluid with the filter and add fresh fluid with Lucas oil additive ..

The transmission seems to slip when going in reverse in my Ford Explorer 1994 (OK going forward). Transmission fluid is OK.

have one myself w/over 400.000 miles suggest you change transmission fluid and filter, just add lucas transmission treatment to your fluid change. never had problems w.mine. but firm beleiver in lucas oil and transmission and fuel treatments. just trying to see how far i can go w/mine. the lucas treatment added to your fluid and transmission fluid and filter change frees up stuck valves in the transmission. sounds alot like you may have a stuck valve body in the transmission to me.pull your transmission fluid dip stick, this is going to sound strange but go with me for a second please, does the fluid smell burnt? do'nt be scared to put it on your finger and sniff it. if it smells like burnt expletitive, then it needs replaced and filter too. just please add lucas transmission treatment to your fluid change, you will not regret it. the treatment [lucas] will cost an extra $11.00 onto the fluid change, trust me, you will not regret it!fluid changes are a must for ford explorers 4x4 don't know why,but they demand baby formula. lucas,i've found is that formula. thank you for choosing we are here 24/7 for you 7days

Where is the fuel filter

My friend;
Try this;

  1. Normally new cars have at least two filters;.
  2. One internally called screen { because it's made of wire mesh or plastic} inside the fuel tank with the fuel pump assy.
  3. The other one externally underneath the vehicle under the forward passenger next to the RH chassis / or some where in the engine compartment.

Try it, & PLZ; let me know if It work with You & If I add any benefits to you.
I hope I add some thing valuable to you.

1998 ford explorer starts just fine but slips out of gear

this time it would be a transmission shop... cheap fix tho i won't guarentee how long it will last... perhaps long enough to win the lottery (gotta buy tickets tho).

stop by your local autozone or canadian tire if live in canada eh and pick up a product made by lucas for the life of me i can't think of the exact name but ask one of the lads or lasses for something that will thicken the transmission fluid.

You add it in the same hole that the dipstick for the transmission goes into.

You will need a funnel.

speaking of which... check the level of the transmission fluid... if it's low add the lucas stuff first then top it up.

Please take a moment to rate this solution. thanks
