Battery won't charge the wheel that runs the belt won't work

It sounds as though you may have run down the battery because the alternator was not charging. You'll need to check the belt and fix whatever is keeping the alternator from turning, then get a jump start, or charge the battery. After starting, check the voltage to be certain the charging system is working. I hope this helps.

The belt in my car is not moving. The pulley attached to the altenator is not moving

...is the engine running?
If the belt is moving but the alternator pulley isn't, it's seized and the alternator needs to be replaced.
If the belt isn't moving at all, it probably slipped off the crank pulley.

Alternator removal of 2000 aurora

Check under the hood or around the radiator support for the serpentine belt routing.
If you can not locate on then make a DETAIL drawing on the belt routing.
=====
Move the belt tension and move the pulley to free the belt.
=====
Set the belt aside on a dry and clean service.
=====
Remove the negative terminal on the battery.
=====
Remove the red cable and connector.
=====
Loosen the alternator mounting bolts and replace with new unit.
=====
Route belt back onto all pulleys.
=====
Move the tensioner pulley out of the pathway and loop the belt back
=====
Reconnect all cables
===== clear all tools off the work area.
re-inspect the belt before starting the engine.

Went to work... everything was fine.. came out 9 hours later.. wouldn't start... jumped it.. got it home.. tried to start it..won't... bad battery? alternator? needs a new serpentine belt?

Replace battery .Start car warm to normal, check alternator by removing battery negitave cable, if the engine quits running replace alternator if it keeps running the alternator is fine. As far as the serpentine belt goes it will not prevent the car from starting.However if the belt looks like it needs to be replaced then it might be a good idea to do so.Good Luck.

Check guages light comes on after short drive while engine is running, and the car died while driving on I-95 the lights started flickering getting dimmer. the radio would turn off when anything else...

It sounds like the Alternator is actually bad.
One great way to determine this:
Recharge the new battery with a trickle charge overnight. Make sure use remove the wires going to the Battery before recharging.
Replace the Battery Wires.
Get the Vehicle Started.
When it has Started: Leave it Running and Disconnect and Remove the Negative side of the Battery. If the Vehicle dies, it is the Alternator that is bad, and needs to be replaced..
The Battery starts that vehicle, and provides nominal power to certain accessories. The Alternator actual Runs the Engine and Recharges the Battery with a low trickled charge.

Changed alternator, cant get belt on, pulley wont move?

Which pulley are you referring to? If it is the one at bottom of the engine that all of the belts go around, you won't get it to move unless you start the car. when you say it won't move, do you mean it won't spin or won't shift position to allow slack in the belt? If it is the alternator not moving, you need to loosen the bolts holding it to the bracket and then slide it so the belt will go on. Did you simply cut the old belt off without loosening the alternator first? Usually the alternator and any other accessory items sharing the belt have to be loosened on their brackets to get the belt on and off and then tightened to get it back on.

Good luck.

Noisy water pump pulley,alternator pulley..timing belt tensioner

I have a 1995 xj6....same problem. I replaced the belts, water pump, and the alternator. Still does it. As I play with the tension on the belt (belt that drives water pump, alternator) it goes away and comes back. If I remove the belt, the metal to metal screech stops. I then, with just the belt, turned the main pulley on the front of the engine, and there was the sound! The main pulley has 2 belts that run on it. Also, 2 pulley tracks. They SHOULD move simultaneously and be super meshed. But the rear one moves on its own under tension until it warms up and I guess, the bushing maybe expands. Now.....how do I fix it??????
