Question about 1999 Dodge Durango
I would say the oil pump is the problem.Since your guage goes up and then comes down after 3000 RPM,it seems to be doing what it's supposed to.The ticking could be lifters/tappets.If it isn't too loud,it isn't bad.If it is real loud,I don't know how to describe loudness if you know what I mean without hearing it,it may require work but I'll tell you now, there will probably be a lot of labor cost.If you aren't sure about the loudness of the ticking, take it to a shop which is AAA approved. They have to be a reputable shop to have that.If you take it to the dealer, only get an opinion because I guarantee they will say it needs this and that and this and that.Shops will give you a free opinion because it is good business.A AAA shop will tell you if you need to worry about it or not(at least they should).I got taken by a shop I used to go to all the time.It was because the guy we knew owned the place had sold it and we didn't know it.This chain has a lot of complaints too.I found a AAA guy and he has beat any price in town by a considerable amount.
Good luck! Greg
