Question about Toyota 4Runner

I have a 1993 Toyota 4Runner. I changed the bulb in the headlight and disconnected the battery. When I reconnected the battery the alarm went off. I do not have the alarm remote to disarm the system. How do I turn the alarm off?

Is it an aftermarket alarm or factory?
If it is factory then put the key in the ignition and turn it on soon as you hook the battery up. If it is an after market then you will have to find where they hooked the fuse up and take it out. Or find the megaphone and disconnect the wire. The alarm will have a wire going to the battery without a fuse too. I am pretty sure. But not positive. I remember I ended up doing away with mine after I lost the remote.

Look in the fuse box and if iam not mistaken you can remove a fuse which will shut it up on these older vehicles,or re connect battery and try to open and close door three times then put the key in ignition quickmanother trick i done with my jag when the fob fell of the keyring ans i thought i had lost it was to put the key in ignition and turn ignition on and after third attempt to start the alarm stopped and car started after it recognised the chipp in the key

Headlight keeps blowing

Check the amps that are being drawn by the headlights. Compare that with what the bulb should be drawing using:
amps= watts / volts
I am going to guess its higher but not to the point of blowing the fuse for your lights. I would then start checking grounds.
Or, you used halogen bulbs and you touched the glass. I doubt they would both fail at the same time from that.

92 Toyota 4runner truck was running perfectly fine Later in the day went to start and the alarm just started going off and wouldn't turn off. Truck won't start even with keys turned in igniti

The alarm system somehow got activated , this is usually because the battery becomes discharged or disconnected try doing this:
Remove the key from the ignition
disconnect the negative battery terminal
put the key back in and turn to ON
exit the truck and leave door open
reconnect the battery terminal
get in and leave door open, if the alarm horn stays off it should start.

How to replace headlight bulb on 2004 toyota 4runner

BE AWARE THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE IS EASIER TO INSTALL THAN THE DRIVER'S SIDE. ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE YOU MAY HAVE TO MAKE ROOM TO REMOVE AND REINSTALL THE BULB.RAISE THE HOOD. LOOK BEHIND THE HEADLIGHT, THERE IS A PLUG WITH A CONNECTOR. DISCONNECT IT. NOW TAKE THE LITTLE METAL SPRING THING AND PINCH IT, THAT HOLDS THE BULB IN PLACE. TAKE OUT THE BULB, PUT THE NEW ONE IN. FOLD THAT LITTLE METAL THING OVER AND PINCH INTO PLACE. CONNECT CONNECTOR AND RUBBER PLUG AND THAT'S IT.

Blown front headlight on a toyota 4runner 1993 hilux 4x4. How do I get to it to change it? Is it a sealed unit or just a bulb replacement?

In most cars they are just bulbs. On the driver side, if the battery is located on this side, you may need to remove this to get to it. It is a good idea, and suggested to disconnect the battery anyway when dealing with any type of electrical repair.

Once you remove the battery, look behind the headlight and you'llsee the backing of the light, and the back of the bulb socket. There will be two or three wires (usually two) that come out of it.

Turn the socket counter clockwise to unscrew it from the insertion point, and lightly pull out. Do the same for the bulb, or some just pull out and push in.

Put new bulb in, and turn the socket clockwise to tighten in place.

Put battery back in, hooking up the ground first, then the positive. Turn key (or lights on if they work without the key on) and run on headlights.

If it comes on, you're good to go. If not, on some vehicles, when one light goes out, it affects other, however this is usually not common for headlights.

If it does not come on, check the fuse in the fuse box under the dash (or sometimes in the glove compartment) as well as any relays or fuses under the dash in the black box near the battery.

On either the top of the cover for both fuse locations, or the inside of the cover you will see a diagram indicating which fuse is linked to certain components. Find any that are linked to the headlamps (headlights) and other lighting components, i.e. turn signals, tail lights, etc as each will sometimes have seperate fuses, but the wiring is linked at some point.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Where do you begin raplacing a 93 4runner headlight?

if this has the old style bulbs you're on the right track--just havent found all the retaining screws however if this is the newer style with the small bulb it goes in from behind, some times the battery is in the way, but on this type there is a cap over the wires and a retainer which have to be removed

Won't start after cleaning battery terminals

Sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm with starter disable. By disconnecting the battery the alarm reset and the defualt setting is usually to set the alarm automatically (active arming). You have three options..
A. If you have the key fob that went with the alarm you can disarm the alarm.
B. If no key fob is available you can disconnect the battery again, turn the ignition key to the on position and reconnect the battery. This usually doesn't allow the alarm to set and allows the car to start.
C. Remove the aftermarket alarm system. This is usually the long term fix i recommend if the fob isn't available. Option B should get you going though.
