Since you or someone spilled soda pop on your shifter you could lift the boot cover and unscrew the gain access to this area. however this could be a real pain in the !!! what i would try first is to get a solution of hot soapy water and pour it slowwly or repeatedly down the shifter hole to wash out the soda pop. this all goes right out onto the ground.

The little plastic piece by the shift gear is messed up and it is making it hard for me to shift gear. Do I open the box and fix it or do I have do something else ?

I would say open it up, only if you can be sure to put it back the same way. Be sure not to drop anything in the opening when you do bc that can further your shifting problem. If you are nervous or think it might mess it up, then have someone professional do it.

Shifts into and out of second gear hard. and has slipped a couple of times

this is a fault in the gear box velve block, there are little pistons in this velve block and they have rubber "O" rings on them if there hard or worn they leek oil past them so the gear box presher needs to be high to move them all you can do is have a re-build done on the box

Unscrew it by rotating the shift knob counter clockwise. It can be a little bit hard the first time.

Loss of power to electric windows and central locking ALL FUSES HAVE BEEN CHECKED

Your main switch panel in the drivers door armrest is bad. This is usually caused by rain coming in an open window or a spilled coke. Acid in the coke rots the contacts over time and destroys the components on a small circuit board in the switch panel.

Junkyard trip will get you a new one. Easy to install. Pry it up and release the wiring harness. Some online discount parts houses have good pricing on this item too.

Automatic shift has trouble getting into gear

If you have spilled any coke or coffee on shifter it will cause the shift lock actuator to stick if you have floor shifter. You will have to remove center console to clean. If nothing has been spilled shift lock actuator needs to be replaced.

My automatic volkswagon passat will not shift out of park.

You may try to take the console out from around the shifter and in there its a little moving rod that kind of rocks back and forth to unlock your gear from park when the brake has been steped on.A lot of times drink gets spilled in those and then when you step on the park brake it want disingage which makes it stick in park intermitinly.Any questions just let me know

Drink spill killed stereo

As long as it is still powering up, it can be removed, taken to a eletrical repair shop, and cleaned. Sounds like the internal drive or gearing got gummed up.
It just needs a good cleaning.
