Check plugs, remove and make sure there is no oil on plugs, if oil you need to replace piston rings. check coil pack leads and plugs for spark.

Sounds like your ignition cylinder failed, it'll have to be replaced, luckily you can just replace the cylinder and you don't have to replace the keys and pay for reprogramming the ignition.

My girlfriend has a 99 pontiac grand am with the 2.4 l an has a cylinder number 2 misfire .. it spits an spudders out exhaust any ideas where to start ?

Plugs, a coil tower, and four spark plug boots would be a good start. Wery common for the towers to go bad on these.

Took distributer out and changed dist rotor and dist cap. Put ne spark plugs and wires. Now wont start and backfires while trying to start.

You have the Engine Out Of Time you will have to bring number 1 cylinder to Top dead center do this by turning the Crank bolt Clockwise Have the valve cover off so you can watch the Intake and Exhaust Valve`s open and close as number one piston comes up on a firing stroke make sure you have the number one cylinder coming up on a firing stroke. Watch Intake valve open and close as you turn the Crank.when pisten gets dead top of this STROKE DROP THE DISTRIBUTER; Start the Firing Order right where the Rotery Button is inside the Distributer cap

The car wont start is out of time we put the timing belt everything else was done an it wont start

sounds like the gears are off. did you make sure the cam and crankshaft where in proper alignment. if not the valves and firing order wont match up, stopping the car from starting or at least back firing. usually there is a marking on the engine block showing where the two gear pulleys should be positioned. the other thing to check is that the distrubutor is pointing to number 1 plug and that number 1 cylinder is at top of its stroke.

Chevy k1500 5.7 v8 wont start

Sounds like your timing is off when you placed the distributor back in or your spark plug wires are crossed. Start with the simple and check the spark plug wire firing order. 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 Cylinder numbers drivers side 1-3-5-7 radiator to firewall. Cylinder numbers passenger side 2-4-6-8 radiator to firewall. Distributor cap #1 is at 5 O'clock and rotates clock wise. Once that is establish to be good then make sure the cylinder 1 is at TDC with the distributor rotor at the #1 position. Good luck and hope it's a crossed firing order.

My car wont start

Check the position of the wires with the coil, some coil in Hyundai have number 1,4,3,2 these number are the cylinder, in the motor the cylinder number 1 is the first of the left if you are in front of the hood, and check the spark gap to 1.0-1.1mm
