It sounds like your ac pump clutch bearing are sezing up they will be noisey and the ac take around 30% effiencey from your engine when on so if the bearing are sezing up that will increase thats why you feel the car has a load on the engine

Belt noise is caused by a loose or old belt. As the belt ages the rubber gets hard. A serpentine belt has no adjustment, so as the belt ages, you have to replace it if it becomes noisy...
The serpentine adjuster bearing can also go bad, creating a lot of noise. If that is the case you can sometimes remove and replace just the bearing, but often that is not an option and you have to replace the entire adjuster assembly.
