What would make the fans not come on and cool the radiator?

Hello Anonymous,

Before replacing the fan motor try hot wiring it to see if the motor will run. Disconnect the two wire connector at the fan motor and run two jumper wires from the battery. If you get the polarity backwards the fan will still run, just backwards... but it will answer the question of whether or not the motor is bad. If the motor runs on the hot wire setup, it's good and the problem lies somewhere else like the radiator fan relay.

This relay is located near the driver's side front wheel well. Go under the car and find the wires leading to the radiator fan on the drivers side. Trace them back and you will see they go to a waffer shaped solid state relay bolted to the car near the wheel well. It measures about 1 1/2 inches across and is about 1/4 inch thick.

Severe corrosion or heat damage to the aluminum mounting bracket may be the culprit. .

How to change spark plugs and wires

Joe s anwers is good and I can add a step to give greater access . Place car in nuetral with wheels at rear of car loosely blocked { 1 - 2 inches before tire hits front block } . Then acquire 2 ton Logistic strap { used by trucking / moving vans to strap items in place - hooks on each end with ractheting device to tighten up } Place car in Nuetral and Hook one end to front of motor eye / bracket for engine removal - Now hook other end to Radiator crossmember support { near washer bottle works } . Tighten rachet mechanism handle and watch engine get pulled forward allowing you 2 inches more of firewall access to get plugs out . Car must be in Nuetral for above -Then Caution Fully Block Wheels in case Strap lets go while working against firewall .

Reading... knock sensor misfire #3 cylinder

Instructions
  1. Raise the hood of the Kia Shortage view the interior. From front to back you will see the grill, the radiator, the radiator fans, and the engine. On the top of the engine is the valve cover---an aluminum cover that encloses the top of the engine---that is bolted in place.
  2. Look behind the valve cover for an aluminum rail that goes across the back of the engine. Inserted at equal distances---both below and into the rail---are tubular injectors that are also inserted into the engine. The aluminum rail is called the fuel rail. It is a hollow tube that holds the tops of the injectors and supplies them with fuel. Each of the injectors are also plugged into the engine wiring harness.
  3. Inspect the injectors for any signs of fuel leaks. Although rare, leaks do occur, especially due to age and mileage. If leaking, do not drive the car as there is an increased risk of fire. Repair the injector seals before driving the car again.

Where is the radiator cap on a 1995 buick skylark

It is usually on the left or right side of the radiator. The radiator is just behind the grille (front of hood), in front of the engine. The radiator cap is about three inches in diameter, usually a silver color metal.
To remove it, with the engine COLD, press firmly down on it with the heel of your hand and rotate it counterclockwise. It should turn about 1/8 of a turn, and then it will hit a safety stop. (If you hear hissing, the motor is not cold, turn it back and wait.) Push firmly down and continue to rotate CCW. After about 1/2 turn or so, it will stop again, then you can remove it.
