2003 Ford Explorer DVD screen works but says no disc when dvd is inserted.

    When disc is inserted to dvd player it will read it for 30 seconds then a message saying no disc pops up. what could be the problem

For sure the optical head of the player is faulty.
You can take the set out and do a cleaning of the optical head, clean with a cotton bud on the lens-- If this works.
If not the optical unit has to be replaced with the necessarry precaution and I advice the job be done by the service centre after you get and esttimate.
Other options available to you is to get a USB/CARD reader which works on FM and is pretty useful and becoming quite economical. Prices are low on many models and you can store all your CD's to the USB.

Hello, I just purchased a 2004 ford expedition. The overhead dvd player will only show a blue scren after the dv is inserted.. Please help
may need clened because its not recognising a disc.. get a can of dvd spray with the tube on it(like dusting spray) and insert the tube and inch or so inside the slot..spray short bursts of spray into the unit..wait a minute or so and retry..repost findings..

Navigation not working get disk reading error message upon starting car and every few minutes afterward
Check for a scratched or dirty Navi DVD disc. Clean or have the scratches polish out at your local game store. Video game stores usually have a disc repair machine that polishes out scratches.
Note: In some cases the Navi unit can cause rotational scratches on the DVD. If this is the case than the Navi unit will have to be replaced.

Navigation system not working 2005 Honda Pilot
Hi,welcome fix ya. the correct disc for your pilot has a black label and the version should be between 2.11c to 2.60 any other disc will not work in your unit. If there is anything else I can help you with let me know.

Installing the DVD Map Disc Your dealer/retailer may have installed the map DVD. If the map DVD was not installed, do the following to load it:
Read the following steps completely.
  1. Turn the ignition on. The vehicle must be in P (Park) to perform this operation.
  2. Press (power) to turn the navigation system on.
  3. Press the NAV hard key.
  4. Touch the Insert Map Disc screen button. The screen opens to access the map DVD slot.
  5. Load the map DVD partway into the slot. The system pulls it in. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
    Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
  6. To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.
  7. Set the search area. See "Setting the Search Area" earlier in this section.
Ejecting the DVD Map Disc The navigation portion of the system cannot be used if the DVD map disc is not loaded.
  1. Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Nav is selected or touch the Nav screen button.
  2. Touch the Map Database Information screen button.
  3. Touch the Eject Map Disc screen button. The screen tilts, exposing the map DVD slot.
  4. Press the eject button, located next to the DVD map disc slot, and the disc ejects. Pull the disc out. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
    Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
