After replacing a battery the radio doesn't work. why does the radio have to be removed to get the code to fix it?

it has an anti-theft radio that needs a code to unlock it in case it get stolen it becomes useless the to the thief. the code is programed into the radio without removal by using the controls on the face of the radio. you may have to go to the dealer to have re-programed.

The dealer does. They have to call to get the code and disarm it before they can get in. Junk yard should have told you this. Costs about $50.00

2002 corrella engine light on and radio not working

A blown will not set the check engine light. You will need to get your car scanned with a diagnostic checker.

The radio fuse is under the dash, on the driver side

2002 Passat won't start

We had the same problem. It was an expensive fix--there apparently was a problem with the onboard computer that would periodically lock out the ignition circuit. Felt just like a bad starter solenoid--but the part cost $800, plus labor, to replace. Ouch.
