Its likely you have a bad voltage regulator , its
inside the alternator , normally you replace it as a unit ,
unless your adept enough to dissasemble it ,
and replace the regulator alone.

THE ALTINATOR ON MY PICKUP TRUCK IS NOT PUTTING OUT AMPS TO THE AMP METER. THE BATTERY IS NEW AND THE ALTINATOR IS NEW ALSO, WHY WON'T THE ALTINATOR PUT OUT AMPS ?undefined

What model and make is your truck?
Older vehicles differ widely from later ones. Is the regulator separate from the alternator? If so, you might need to replace the regulator.
On some vehicles, the regulator was booted by the indicator lamp on the dash. If the light does not work (blown), the alternator does not charge.

Our 2007 odyssey the battery died after only one year. Bought new one now four days later car won't start again. We left no lights on or radio, not even the dvd player. What's wrong with this...

Battery might have died cause the altinator is not charging 14+V Please charge the battery, donot boost the dead battery. After charging the battery check the altinator output.

My 2002 jeep wrangler check gauges light came onand the battery gauge is below the left dot on the gauge. does that mean i have to replace the battery?

With the jeep running put a volt meter on the battery and it should be reading above 13 volts if not replace the altinator it isn't charging. You can check the fuse for the altinator first if not charging but most likely the altinator is bad.

Battery won't charge.

Check your altinator wires are clean and tight.I have had some cars with that problem and its been the altinator regulator is the fault. Allthough the charge light goes out its still faulty.

1991 Dodge 4x4 truck altinator will not charge, new altinator, all fuses are good and serkets. Altinator will not charge.

Change voltage regulator. Does the battery take a charge from a charger? If not, replace battery. If it does, then regulator is faulty. If still nothing, return alternator to place of purchase, and have it checked.

Battery light on 2003 intrepid came on

if the charging circuit is low, then it appears that your alternator is going bad....

Battery terminals, when car is off, should read 12V+-.2V. When the car is running, terminals should read 13V-14V=-.2V

Possible short, altinator not charging battery

I would say that this may well be a coincidence. The alternator had its own circuitry in it to regulate its output wich, i suspect, is the problem...the good news is that many ap stores can test an alternator on site so you know for sure before spending your money; better yet bring it to a real expert- and auto electric shop- the rebuild alternators and electric motors on site as well as test and diagnose the alternator for you.
