Disconnect the cooling fans and jumper the cooling fans if the fans run and the fuses/fusible links are good the it may be the fan control module which is in front behind the grill

Does a 01 mercury cougar have a radiator fan switch, and where is it if so?

radiator fan switch ???? has relays ,high speed cooling fan relay an engine cooling fan relay an a cooling fan resistor . A coolant temp. sensor . The temp sensor is a input to the PCM - engine computer ,when temp gets to hot the PCM energizes the relays . There is no radiator fan switch . Videos on youtube . http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html check out wiring diagram here .

How long for the ac fan to start working? Ive noticed that the fan does not work when i turn the ac on, can this cause my car to overheat. I check the temp and coolant liquid both seems fine.

the ac fan starts as soon as the ac is switched on
the fan is provide cooling of the condenser before the radiator to prevent high head pressures in the ac compressor
it is the fan at the front of the car mand does not affect engine temp
there is a radiator fan between the engine and the radiator that will not start until the coolant temperature reaches a set temp at which point the ECM switches that fan on
if that fan is not working when the engine is hot , check for fan, coolant temperature sensor switch , fan relay, fuses or problem ECM

Why is my radiator getting hot? the pump is working, the water is circulating , thermostat seems to be working also!

Some possible causes of the high coolant temp...........

1. The radiator fans are not kicking in when the temp rises.

2. The water pump may be working but if the impeller blades have corroded badly the performance of the water pump will be very poor. (Some water pumps used by some manufacturers have plastic impeller blades and over time these blades will break apart).

3. The thermostat is stuck partly open and is retarding 100% coolant flow through the radiator.

4. You have a partial blockage in the cooling system which is retarding coolant flow. This may be in the radiator or in the cooling passages in the engine.

5. Check if you have bubbles in the radiator. Wait for the engine to cool and start the engine. Take off the cap and wait for the thermostat to open and for the hot water to begin flowing through the top hose into the radiator. Then watch for any bubbles appearing in the coolant. If there are bubbles continuously it is an indication of a combustion leak into the cooling system and that will cause overheating until the problem is fixed. In that event have a leak down test carried out on each cylinder to confirm that the combustion is leaking into the cooling system..

Have the problem, whatever the cause, investigated and fixed. Allowing the engine to run hot will cause expensive engine damage many times what it will cost you to fix the cooling issue you have now.

By the way, blowing out a coolant hose is not a fault. It is due to owner negligence in not replacing the top and bottom radiator hoses every 6-7 years because over time the hoses deteriorate like many items in a vehicle that require routine maintenance and replacement due to wear, use and time.

Fan motor for cooling radiator keeps running after shut vehicle off, I tap on fuse box on right front of engine, what is wrong?

If the coolant temp is hot the fan will keep running till cools , if it stays on after this the censor may be at fault.

2003 kia sedona ex heat not working

If the engine temp rise while sitting at lights then you have an air flow through radiator problem. Electric fans not working or viscous fan hub is faulty. high heat except at speed may indicate an air lock in the cooling system or coolant level in the radiator. Check at radiator cap not the reservoir.

2007 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. I was driving and my digital dashboard reported engine hot and AC turned off. My temperature gauge read cool. What do I need to replace?

This sounds like a bad coolant temp sensor that give computer false reading, check the coolant temp sensor connector and if it is good with no bad wires to connector then replace coolant temp sensor , when the computer gets a signal from temp sensor that engine is hot it turns fans on high speed to cool radiator and displays a/c turned off , if this truck does not have electric cooling fans then they wont run just explaining what happens depending on engine and cooling set up. replace coolant temp sensor and check connector.

Coolant for solara wagon 6 cylinder

coolant is for the cooling system, the cars engine must be cooled, there is a radiator , hoses and fans. the coolant is also used to supply heat to the inside of the car in winter conditions or cold days. The radiator which is bolted on the front of the car stores coolant (antifreeze) the coolant is then pumped through the engine by the waterpump, there is a thermostat that regulates the coolant flow. when the coolant in the engine reaches a certain temp. 190 degrees the thermostat opens and allows cooler coolant to enter the engine to keep it from overheating, the coolant that comes out of the engine then flows through the radiator and the fans are turned on by the computer to cool the coolant as it flows through the radiator. this goes on and on to keep engine operating around 170- 190 degrees,If the coolant does not cool the engine then engine damage will occur.
coolant is also used to keep for freezing in cold temps, the coolant is mixed 50/50. half coolant and half water. if water was used it would freeze and in the summer it would boil and is not a good cooling source.hope this is helpful.

High coolant temp

It is possible, how ever, I would check for inop coolant fan, or restricted radiator. If parts of the radiator are cool to the touch when the coolant fan has kicked in, very possibly resricted flow of coolant through the radiator.

LOW COOLANT LIGHT COMES ON SOMETIMES AND TEMP GUAGE SHOWS ENGINE GOING TO OVERHEAT. HEATER GETS COLD. IS IT THE THERMOSTAT?

There may be a thermostat problem, but your symtoms indicate low coolant level. When coolant is too low, it will not circulate, so you get no heat in car, and the coolant remaining in engine block overheats because no cool fluid coming in.
You need to fill the system up properly then look for leaks.
With cold engine, open radiator cap. Fill with antifreeze directly in radiator. Start engine, top up rad if level drops. Put heat control on Hot. Fan on low, heat on high. Gently rev engine and top up rad as needed. IF as engine heats up, it starts kicking fuild violently out of radiator, then the thermostat is bad. if not, then recap radiator, top up overflow bottle and you're done. Look under car for any sign of leaks. Steady dripping indicates a leak, then address that.
