There is a small pinion in the starter motor known as BENDEX. it is supposed to move forward and engage the flywheel when you turn the key to start. And when you release the key, this pinion goes back. The click you hear is this bendex not doing its job. Please have it repaired/replaced if it can not be repaired.

Helloo guys ,, I think that i have a problem with my 2005 civic, every morning when i want to start my car it takes me from 2-3 times to start the car , after that when i go for a drive and turn it of and...

HI, curious condition....you might try something to see if it is a fuel problem perhaps. Try a cold start (first thing in the morning as you say) but instead of jumping in and cranking it over, turn the key to the run position (all the way on right before you bump the starter) and wait 10 seconds before actually cranking the motor over. If it starts right up after trying this wait, it may not be priming correctly and should look at the fuel pressure regulator. (I'm thinking after is has been running, it is already primed and perhaps keeping too much prime pressure, hence the quick start when hot)...just a thought before assuming there is something amiss in the ignition or injection systems......Mike....please reply

2006 honda civic lx auto sedan will not start. Tried jumping. Tried a new battery. Starter does not turn. No click. dash lights up.

need to check for voltage at the starter. if no volt meter is available, have someone hold the key in the crank position while you tap the starter with small hammer. if it breaks loose, replace the starter. happy holidays

1991 honda civic si starting problem

have you check the ground wire from your negative wire to battery post? check to see the battery is strong. if it doesn't turn over the engine or crank the engine mean no good ground to the cables. if the car ran fine I dont understand why the car wont crank or turn the motor over it just quit. if the battery check out strong 12 V, starter serenoid may be faulty on your starter or it may be hot and will not turn starter over.

1983 honda civic wont start now

hi have you checked the leads from battery to starter are secure ? also important that the negative earth lead from battery to the engine is also secure and in good condition on the starter you should have main cable from battery and a thinner cable both connected to solenoid on one terminal ? then a thin wire to a small push on terminal? this wire is the key start wire which energises the slenoid/starter

Car wont start

If you are getting spark to the plugs, (and assuming nothing has happened to screw up the timing of the spark), the only thing that would cause the car not to start is that you are not getting fuel into the cylinders. You can check this by squirting some ether into the air intake of the engine. You can get some start spray at an auto parts store.

91 honda civic

wont crank is sign of bad starter or bad battery or connections from positive fat cable to starter. or bad solenoid. or even relay that signals solenoid to engage. also if car shuts off and wont start but cracnks. it could be the pickup coils in distributor, not giving it signal to fire spark or alarm system bypassed wrong
