remove the ashtray. then remove the holder for the ashtray. the lighter is just inside. be careful not to short the hot wire to ground. It runs from the battery to the fuse box then to the lighter. Check the fuse if the first if you haven't already.

SOURCE: cigarette lighter doesn't work

before u pull panel, check for 12vdc with voltmeter inside lighter socket. If u have it, then clean contacts and/or replace lighter(not socket, wiring is fine) May save a lot of work. If you don't have voltage are you 100% sure you have right fuse and not the one below, above, or next to it? I still make mistakes with numbered fuses, which number is for which fuse. To make sure I start counting at 1.

SOURCE: my cigarette lighter inmy 1996 VW Jetta doesn't

Many cig lighters have inline fuses. The fuse is part of the wire going from the lighter to the power source. It typically looks like a small white tube and can be opened by gently twisting and the pulling apart. Before you do that are you sure its' the fuse? The coil in lighters frequently burn out. Try a lighter from a similar car or plug in a cell phone charger to see if your getting power to the lighter housing. If you have power you can get a replacement lighter at most auto parts stores for a couple of bucks.

Fuse for cigarette lighter 2009 toyota tacoma

On my 79 Tacoma the cig fuse, and several others, are on a small panel directly behind the pull-out change drawer, in front of my left knee. Give the flip-out drawer a slight tug, and it pops out to reveal the fuses. The cig fuse is top row, second in from the right, 15amp. You may need to get the fuse puller thingey from the big fuse box under the hood.

I have a 2006 toyota tacoma and the fuse is missing for the cigarette lighter. I went to Auto Zone to get a fuse, but they cannot tell me what type of fuse that I need and it is not in the maual just how...

most cigarette lighters use a 10 amp fuse.

if the fuse blows, or the lighter does not work, remove the fuse immediately, and have the car checked by a qualified auto electrician. there may have been a prblem before that led to the fuse being removed in the first place, but it is worth putting a fuse in and trying it first.

if you have any doubts or problems, remove the new fuse and have the car checked properly.

hope this helps.

you could be lucky and the fuse blew, and it could be a burned wire, check the fuse panel and replace the fuse if blown, if it blows again you have to fix the wires, and possible the cigarette lighter if it got damaged

Fuses

The cigarette lighter is controlled by the 15 amp ACC fuse. This same fuse allows the Power Outlet Relay to power up. I would think that this fuse is your issue. Hope this helps, and Thanks for selecting FixYa to solve your question.
