If oil is leaking from the heads. Its most likely a head gasket. Which is a very tedious task and costly. Typically if your headgasket it blow you will see large amounts of white smoke coming out of the tailpipe. If the headgasket was blown and you had the oil changed, there would be antifreeze in the oil. But seeing as the oil is disappearing that fast that sounds to be the most probable cause. Let me know if you need further explanation or assistance. Please feel free to follow up with a comment and i will be glad to assist you further. if this satisfied your answer you can rate the solution accordingly. Thanks, Midwest-tek

I have the same issue,,, its the engine getting old.. too much clearance..piston to wall... bearings....??.. I use a half bottle Lucas Oil treatment with each oil change... I put it in last... while the engine is running so it mixes well..and I usually overfill it just a tiny bit...

00 durango only goes in drive

Sounds like a lot of miles...any routine maintenance completed? Fluid, filter change? Your least costly attempt to fix would be to add a full bottle of Lucas Oil Transmission treatment to your existing ****** drain is needed. Be sure to warm your Durango by driving for a few minutes before adding the whole bottle. This fluid will attempt to reseal and lubricate the ******. Hope this helps.

My 91 honda civic has alot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust, and have oil on the spark plug in the #3 cylinder not sure what the problem is (bad vaulve/seal)??? one month prior to problem blew...

I'll tell you what few might be problems
Oil on spark plug could be:

1. bad cylinder rings 2. value seals
For Value Seals you will take off head again and then take off value over. Take all (Lifters or Cam) and springs off and you will see seal rings in each of values.
For cylinder rings, you will maybe need to take motor out and take head off, oil pan and rod bearing unbolts to get cylinder out to replace new rings. Or you can try do that without motor out. just take oil pan off under the car.
Try change oil with 1 qt of Lucas Oil and 4 or 5 normal oil. Best oil is Castol High Mileage
Lucas Oil should help stop leaking oil inside the cylinder. Or another kind bottle called (Stop Smoke) at auto store.

Oil light is on but full of oil

the red oil light is on? if so you may have a faulty oil pressure sending unit or you have lost oil pressure. best way to check this is by installing a mechnical gauge on engine and seeing what pressure it is reading. if it is low oil light on then the low oil level sensor is defective

I have a 98 chevy venture and it sounds like it is knocking on the drivers side under the hood. But the knock stops as soon as you hit 50. Before you hit 50 it get louder. Can you tell me what it is?

if it is a little tapping then it is a lifter that is trying to leak down overnight , as you were suspecting, the only way to fix it is to replace them but they are roller lifters and are expensive to replace, you can try some Lucas oil additive on the next oil change, put a quality 10w40 oil and 1 whole quart of Lucas engine oil additive and if it is caused by varnish build up the lucas will solve the issue, if is a worn seal it will help it, but it has collapsed internally ,nothing will help it but a new lifter. But it is worth a try sinc ethe Lucas is less than $8.00 a bottle, just remember that this stuff is very thick , so the engine needs to be warm and running when it is added to correctly blend with the oil ,and do its job correctly. do not add the Lucas without draining out a quart as it will overfill the engine oil

Oil light on engine is full of oil

HI, The Oil Light comes on to show a low oil pressure not just that it is low on oil. If your not experience any unusual engine noise i would not suspect low oil pressure but more likely a bad oil pressure sending unit.

My 7.3 90 model is smoking it still runs

White smoke is generally water, blue smoke is normally oil, and that black smoke usually means you have to much fuel entering the combustion chamber.

Try some kendal nitro 60 weight or valvoline 50 weight plus one bottle of LUCAS stabilizer in place of one quart of oil

Car using oil, but not smoking or knocking

Sounds like you have a piston/cylinder problem. If it is under warranty, take it in and have it looked at because if you have no visible leaks and no smoke, you have an internal motor issue. You can try Lucas Oil, it is a cheap fix for right now. I have it in my 76 Chevy pick up with 187,000 miles on it and it stopped my oil oil consumption problem.

1 bottle of Lucas is 32 oz. You use the whole bottle with a V-8.

Also, the internal problem is a piston ring or cylinder issue.

If it's warranteed, take it in.

v-8 with high miles will do that due the worn piston rings. I would use a bottle of smoke-away and maybe use lucas oil stablazier or go all out and use 10-40
