You have an electrical gear box but it still works on oil presher and clutch/brake bands,,,if there slipping first check the gearbox oil is full and the colour of it,,it shouldbe red,,if its a dark brown and smells burnt you need to have the gearbox looked at,, do this sooner than later as the longer the box slips the more its going to cost you fixing it,,

I have an e39 2001 525i bmw. It runs in reverse fine, but accelerates slow and I have to wait for the gears to switch before picking up speed. I'm hoping it's not a transmission issue. Please help.

Are you saying it won't accelerate if you boot it? Can you explain the problem better. What have you done so far? Are the trans levels OK? When it accelerates is the engine revving out of synch with the speed you are going? ie Does it feel like something is slipping?

I could be as simple as a bad tire just need to jack it up and visually inspect a for nuts and where and do the shake when accelerating to these shakes when braking except for things like this need to know could be a bad tie rod ends of the bad wheel bearings

Not sure what you have determined the truck is doing

If the rpm flairs the trans is slipping & done

If it won't go over 40 mph the exhaust converter is damaged
& blocked

Not much you can do,need professional help

My 2005 ml350 slips on acceleration

If the transmission is slipping and I assume that is what you mean then it is going to need an overhaul. Once an auto transmission slips it is done.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. I would advise you to have your transmission checked as soon as you can. You might need to check your fluid and change your transmission filter first to see if that helps. But, more then likely, your transmission will need worked on since it slipped. That may be just the beginning.

Sounds like your transmission has come to the end of its life. You can try getting the transmission flushed , and an additive I.E. No Slip added. That might cure some of the problems but obviously if its slipping the clutchs inside are worn out and transmission needs an overhaul.

Depending on where you connected power to the stereo from on the fuseblock you could be messing up the tranny. Refer to the manual versus where the stereo wires are, Worst case, disconnect power to the stereo to see if that's the cause of the problem.

Car slipping in uphill acceleration is it my tires or something more is wrong with it?

Hi,
If the engine is revving but your not going forward then it sounds like your clutch is slipping if it is a manual, or the clutch packs are worn if it is an automatic transmission. Either way the clutch or transmission will need to be repaired or replaced. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.
