You can get one made by a locksmith, after the vehicle is about 10 years old the Dealer stop making the keys, you will have to pay about $80-$100 for the key.

Security. Reset is turn the key on for ten minutes, off for thirty seconds. Try to start. Relearn is three times this. Try to start after the third. No start s usually wiring to the ignition chip. Wires break.

Car starts but shuts down

I assume that it shuts down in about 3 seconds and that you have a vats key. These are the keys with a chip on the shaft of them. If so, the computer that reads that chip is most likely bad. The computer is expensive if you want to replace it. Some people just bypass the system. Google it and you can find how to do that. Takes about $1 in parts if you know a little about electronics.

My 1998 buick century 3.1 will not start. I changed starter , I changed the ignition switch , I even jumped the battery to starter with a push button , It now will turn or crank , but ,, it still will not...

THERE IS A CHIP IN THE KEY I BELIEVE. THERE IS A RELEARN PROCEDURE YOU CAN TRY IF WHEN YOU TRY AND START IT THE SECURITY LIGHT FLASHES. HOOK UP A BATTERY CHARGER. TURN THE KEY ON AND TRY AND START THE CAR AND RELEASE . DO NOT TURN KEY OFF LEAVE IT IN THE RUN POSITION. AFTER 10 MINS THE LIGHT WILL STOP FLASHING. TURN KEY OFF. TRY AND RESTART CAR AND AGAIN DO NOT TURN KEY OFF LEAVE IN THE RUN POSITION. LET SET 10 MINS AGAIN. LIGHT WILL STOP FLASHING AFTER THAT 10 MINS. DO IT AGAIN FOR THE 3RD TIME. SHUT KEY OFF LET SET 5 SECONDS AND START THE VEHICLE. HOPE THIS HELPS

Security light came on and dont know what the security light is or what kind of problem it might be

The warning light is telling the driver the security module is not recognizing the chip in the key.
Usually the car will not crank when the light is on.
Common issues are the chip in the key and the sensor in the lock cylinder.
