Question about 2002 Ford Escape
I know what has happened but I'm not sure how you could repair it without getting the door open itself. The release handle has come free of the Release latch mechanism. Unfortunately to repair this you will need to get the door open and remove the Interior panel to access the handle and bar area to reconnect them. This occurs over time as they are made of plastic and plastic eventually wears out. (The handle end of the connection anyway) In order to replace the handle you have to access the bolts or nuts that hold it in place. You then need to reconnect the release bar that is most likely laying in the bottom of your door.
