More likely its the disk worn and the metal casing on the disk pad i9s now hitting the protruding lip on the edge of the disk ,ignore it till you can get it sorted its not dangerous

Will wraped brake rotors cause them to get hot


sounds like they a warped because they got hot are these the rear rotors ? i would check for collapsed rubber lines, sticking calipers, sticking pads in the mounting brackets frozen e-brake cable the same can be checked on the front minus the e-brke cable

Brake problem hard to press on 1995 toyota 4 runner. replaced calipers and pads rotors and bleed the lines three times. Is it the master cylinder or power booster


When you expeirience a hard brke pedal the first thing to diagnose is a bad or inop power brake booster. First thing to check is the vacume check valve on the booster housing that is connected to a vacmue hose. Be sure you do have vacume from the hose first before replacing check valve.

Just replace rear rotors and brake pads on my 2007 Ford Freestyle. took it out for a test drive to the store and it seemed fine. On the way back from the store they started making this loud scraping noise....


On an '07, it's probably not the caliper. You may just have a stone or some dirt stuck inbetween the pads and the rotor. I've seen this many times, and all it requires is to take it apart again and clean the rotors off. However, while you have it apart, check to see if everything appears to be in its proper place, because if the pads were not seated properly, one of the pads could have came loose and may be rubbing up against the rotor flange. Front brake pads wear down too quick


Get the brake calipers checked, the slides are probably seized/sticking causing drag.Check the rear hubcap for stones/debris/looseness.There is also a brake snow/debris guard which tends to rust.

Open the bleed nipple while the caliper is tight in the clamp - open it till it weeps and tighten the clamp till the pistons are flat with the caliper then tighten the bleed nipple. you should be able to fit the brakes now easily. Remember to check and if necessary replenish the brake fluid reservoir.

Removing front brake calipers to chage brake pads and rotors


remove the BOTTOM 15mm caliper bolt lift the caliper up and slide off
then remover the 2 15mm bolts holding the caliper housing on
remove the brake rotor (you may have to hit it with a hamer to break it free
depending on the brake pads you got some come with new sliders
remove the sliders clean the rust build up then install new sliders
lube the sliders install the pads
install new rotor
install the caliper housing with the 2 15mm bolts
install the caliper and lube both caliper pins with silicone lube
install wheels
PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL TILL IT GETS HARD WITHOUT ENGINE RUNNING

Constant squll on left side when I hit the break, I had new rotors and pads put on.


May have picked up a small stone or something. Sometimes a quick trip to carwash & spray in behind wheel at brakes the best you can , may dislodge it. If it continues, you may have to pull the wheel and take a look, or run it back to installer in case defective pad or sticky caliper. If it's a sticky caliper, then they didn't do their job right if it was done recently.

Hi, I have had my front Calipers replaced on my MR2 but my brakes are making a noise when i'm braking. i have taken it back to the garage who have said my brake pads are to small. am i right in thinking...


They did not replace the pads when the did the calipers ?? Is that what you are saying ??
If they didnt - they should have..
Makes no sence to have the calipers out & not change the pads..

They are full of it.. I buy my Toyota pads from the dealer - do it my self - and they work just fine.. I got 50-k on the current last set & they are still good..

If they DID replace the pads & they squeel when you break - my guess is they put cheep pads in.. Cheep pads do that..

You need a ceramic pads or semi ceramic pad.. They last allot longer and make no noise..

How to change rear brake pads on my 1992 mr2 gt


Parts needed...
Metric socket set.
Large standard screwdriver and or small pry bar
never-seize lubricant
new brake pads
12" channel lock pliers or a caliper piston turning cube http://www.google.com/base/a/3862711/D14736274280982705237
Dead blow hammer
Synthetic brake grease
Aerasol brake cleaner
Rubber gloves / safety glasses / facemask
remove the 14mm bolt from the lower caliper slide.
If the bolt will not turn with moderate force applied STOP! and take it to a garage to be dealt with as you are not equipped to remove a broken bolt. Heat will be required to remove it that only an oxy / acetylene rig can provide. 
if the bolt comes free proceed as follows. 
Remove bolt 
Insert prying tool between lower lip of caliper and rotor. 
Pry the caliper up. It will  pivot on the other caliper slide and swing upwards allowing you to access the brake pads in the caliper mount. 
Remove the old pads one at a time by prying them away from the rotor face with a prying tool. 
Match each pad as it is removed with its corresponding replacement and insert. The pads are seated in metal clips and may require multiple attempts and mild force to install. You can use the handle of you hammer to tap them into place. 
Once the pads are installed you can continue with retracting the piston on the calipers. 
Using the piston cube or the pliers, rotate the caliper piston clockwise to retract it into the caliper again. This will take a while especially if you have pliers to work with. If the piston refuses to turn you will need to replace the caliper. This is best left to a garage that is familiar with bleeding ABS systems. Reinstall the old pads and  the caliper and take it to a service center.
Once the piston is retracted into the caliper you can remove the caliper from its guide pin. 
Slide the caliper away from you to remove it from the upper guide pin. 
lubricate the pin with synthetic grease and reinstall the caliper on the guide pin sliding it towards you as far as it will go to re-seat the rubber dust boot. 
Then rotate the caliper down over the new pads. 
Apply never-seize to the threads of the bolt and reinstall it. 
Apply moderate force when installing as excessive force will snap the bolt. 
Once finished clean the entire assembly with brake clean to remove any grease or dust that may have accumulated.

Brake replacement


take the brake caliper off, this is the part that holds and moves the brake pads thare will be 2 bolts holding it on ,one on top one on bottom. after taking bolts loose you may half to pry the caliper up and off brake rotor. once this is done remove old pads and use a brake caliper piston retraction tool to push the piston back into the caliper. you can get this tool at your local parts store or use a C clamp with one of the old brake pads to push it back.install new brake pads and install caliper .after completion make sure you pump the brakes till you get a good pedal before moving vehicle
