SOURCE: ac belt replacement

You must remove the fan belt first by wrenching the spring loaded tightener and the same must be done for the compressor belt.

SOURCE: Need to know how to replace refrigerant pressure

The low pressure switch screws into the side of the accumulator and it should have a shrader valve so you can replace it without loosing all of your refrigerant.

How do I get fire to an AC compressor I just replaced on an 2001 Chevy Z-71 5.3?

Did you fill the system with refrigerant? That system should take 1.8 pounds. Next place to check is the low pressure cycling switch. It's the switch on the accumulator (big round silver thing on the fire wall on the passenger side).

Good luck.

You will have to take it to a shop and have them hook up a ac machine and perform a evacuation on it. If your the by yourself you will damage the compressor

On a 2001 chevy silverado 2500HD the ac blows cool in idle or slow speeds but while driving the air gets warm and then cool warm and then cool etc. i cant tell if the compressor is cutting on and off

You might be low on freon if not compressor going bad to see if your compressor is going on and off turn on a/c on max have some one hold gas peddle down around 1500 rpm or just at a small fast idleif compressor goes on and off recharge it most likely one or two cans will be enough

NO power to the A.C. compressor

Check the AC pressure switch that will turn on the circuit which is on the liquid line going to the evaporator core

Ac belt broke on 2000 silverado 5.3 they want $1500 to fix for a broken belt 124,433 miles

For $1500 i'm going to have to assume they are replacing more then just the serpentine belt. Did the A/C compressor seize causing the belt to break? If so, 1500 still seems a little high unless they are trying to get you to replace the other parts in the system. It's not out of the question to replace the receiver drier and the orifice tube when replacing the compressor but they are pretty accessible.

If i remember correctly the a/c belt only drives the A/c compressor. So, you could just leave the belt off with no other ill effects other then obviously having no A/C and less effective defrost.

Ac blows hot when idles

go have the system recharged. it uses R34 refrigerant coolant. if problem persist the check for leaks. if no leaks then check A/C compressor. if out replace it. That will solve your problem....

Took my 99 gmc sierra to get the ac check and was told it has a leak from the compressor will sealeant seal compressor if it not a big leak

No. The rubber seal on the front of the compressor leaks on those. The sealant is more for a evap core, or a condensor leak.
