If you don't have a battery light on, more then likely the alternator is good, check voltage at battery with volt meter, with engine running, that will be alternator voltage out put, should have no less then 13 volt's, if you have that reading, it's going to be the battery, that has a bad cell, if you do have less then 12.6 volt's it's going to be the alternator, hope this was very helpful.

Have you changed the alternator. The alternator may not be putting out enough of volts to keep the battery charged, also the alternator could be charging but the battery could have dead cells. What or if any parts have you replaced. Also what does the charge indicator on the gauge cluster indicate and do you have a battery light flashing on the cluster panel.

Not charging replaced altenator still not charging

Check the wire from the altenator to the battery. The large wire on the back of your altenator may have a fusible link in it. Check this wire with a multimeter set on continuity or resistance. If the ohms read low the wire is fine, if the ohms read high or infinite the wire/fuse link may be bad. There is also a main fuse in the box under hood to check>

Had a 2005 altinator rebuilt it did not fix the problem

Check fuse # 9 in your underhood distribution box this is the fuse for the altenator field, if this fuse is bad your altenator will not charge. The distribution box is on the left hand fender, under hood, the fuse is # 9, 15A fuse, from left to right looking at the box eight fuses, then three maxi fuses then eight more fuses, the second group of eight, first fuse fender side is # 9. Hope this helps, let me know.

Charging Problem

Ok, first check the fuse diagram on the fuse panel cover under the hood and line up the locations and descriptons to the fuse cluster. You may need the owner's manual as well. There will be one that is labled "ALT" "CHRG" or "BATT" and verify if the fuse is there, and if it's good. If you need to replace one, make sure that it's the correct amp fuse that's labled on the pannel for it.
Hope this helps

This is a 1991 convertible. The headlights will not come up nor do they work?

There are two fuses for the lights one is under the hood and one is under the dash try both of those. THERE IS ALSO A MANUAL WAY OF RAISING THEM TURN THE LITTLE KNOBS BEHIND THE LIGHT WHEN YOU OPEN THE HOOD. There is a large plug in under the lights the passange side is easy to see the other side is a little hardier. Make sure they are plugged in an no corroision on the terminals . I have a 91' conv also had the same problem. I have a problem with mine i keep throwing the altenator belt off can't figure it out is there a spacier between the bracket and altenator?
