If you have not removed the old one yet, make a mark on the fire wall or in-take, where the distributor rotor is pointing to, also mark where distributor housing is sitting at that way you will still be in ignition timing, remove bolt at base of distributor, remove holding bracket, slide distributor out, install new one to where all mark's you made and your done, hope this was very helpful.

Can you if so how do you set timing with only using btdc and distributor on a 94 4runner

Ignition timing manual setting 1994 Toyota 4 Runner.
- Remove the distributor cap.
- Pull up the hand brake, place the vehicle in P or Neutral.
- Rotate the crankshaft pulley with a suitable tool to bring the timing mark at 5 degrees BTDC and the reluctor position in front of No. 1 position in distributor.
- Remove the rotor and adjust the distributor (by loosening two distributor locking bolts) in such a way that the No. 1 reluctor tooth just cross the G1 pickup coil notch in the direction of rotation in the distributor.
- Lock the distributor bolts, install rotor and install distributor cap.

I need to know where the plug wires go.from spark plug to distibuter cap on a 1986 4.1 coupe deville(cad.)

FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. Ive got a 94 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 liter i put a 93 4.0 liter and caint get it to fire but it has different distributor

i think you pretty much answered your own question there. Use the '94 distributor in the other engine and make sure that all the sensors are in place, connected and all for a 94. Also check the crank position sensor. If left in place during install, they can get damaged if the flywheel hits it. (hope you matched the flywheels too...if different, it will not run.

drsinister69 Is an idiot if u dont know nothing about camaros dont post. The opti spark is behind the water pump but they are sealed that way they do not get moisture in it at all. but if the plug in is not all the way in it could get water inside. to change this out all u have to do. Is take off the fans, take off the balancer pulley, take off water pump, then use a 10mm socket and take off the distributor but make sure it is up on number 1 to get it in time or it wont start

I'm parting out my 94 chev caprice 5.7 and planning to install running gear in a project car. (Haven't found what I want yet) Looking for wiring info for 94 to help with installation in project. Tom

Check out faxonautoliterature. They list the original GM service manual for your car which will have complete wiring diagrams, including options. They also have a GM book on engine swaps for newer engines into older vehicles which may be of some help. I've used them before and been very satisfied with their service. Hope this helps.
