Your cooling fan may not be working, as when you are moving, the air going past is enough to cool the car down, but when you are at the lights, it overheats

Car runs perfect then starts missing real bad then stalls

Not unusual for fuel pumps to begin to fail once they are heated up from running. First thing in the morning pump is cool, then as you drive, it heats up and begins to lose pressure. After sitting a 1/2hr-1hr, it may start again and run fine for a short time and start to act up again. Had similar problem and found good fuel pressure when tank and pump cool, but lost pressure once vehicle driven a distance and pump heated up. The hotter the weather, the shorter the distance I could drive. If you can somehow set it up to have fuel pressure checked when it starts to act up, that would certainly help confirm if fuel pressure is the culprit.

Check the transmission fluid level. May be low and getting too hot.

Engine misses/hesitates on low speeds. Runs fine

is the check engine light on? have you ever serviced the injectors? if not try that first because there are many things that give the symptoms you spoke of. but this is the cheapest.

Driving on the highway, the check engine light

Considering this is an emissions light and does not indicate an over-heat or oil pressure condition, it's probably OK. You may however want to take it to an auto parts store such as Advance Auto Parts where they can plug a scanner into the car's computer and check fault codes. It's usually free of charge and you'll be able to see what the source of the problem was. It could be a number of things, even including a loose gas cap.

I hope this helps! :)

The engine check warning light has just come up on the dashboard of my '02 Lanos - the car seems to be running fine. Got no cash 'till pay-day, can I still use the car 'till I can get it checked out in 10...

yes if the car is running fine.It is probably an emission problem.Take it to the shop to get codes read. Most do it for free.it only takes 10 minutes.this will tell you what is wrong.

Hi, I got two problems first is when the car idles or stops and stop lights for a period of time the car starts to over heat but when your going down the highway or just any street as long as the car is...

here are a few things to check, coolant level low, drivebelt defective, radiator could be blocked, faulty thermostat, electric cooling fans not working which makes the engine overheat, when going a certain speed it is air cooled, but when you stop it will overheat.

Car runs fine but bogs down under a load on the highway.

On this fine problem, you're looking at many possibilities. Only sure way, is to test things. Are you getting a SES (Service Engine Soon) light? If you do, start there, run the code and see what it is. If not, possible things could be, your spark plugs are old and cannot burn the fuel, you pretty much have a misfire, fuel injector(s) are dirty. Many things really. My car had that problem, and turned out I had a bent intake valve, so like I said, could be many things.

Is this 4.9 L (6) cyl. ?
Truck runs until hot then quits. Cools down then runs again.

You can get error codes. Many auto parts stores will have free loaner meters to read them.

It could be the hall effect sensor in the distributor. You need to test for injector pulse and if you don't have a pulse, the hall effect sensor will be suspect. This sensor checks for crankshaft position in earlier models instead of a cranks position sensor. The TFI module plugs in near it.
Use a noid light for Ford plugged into an injector and crank the engine to see if it lights.
