You will need Box spanners to execute the work but with the availability of double end spanners and ring spanners based on your ease of work it will be an added advantage.
remove the clamps fitting the alternator to release, remove belt , disconnect wires ( while making a note) and removing .

How do I install the alternator on a 2003 KIA Spectra?

I just replaced the alternator on my 2003 Kia Spectra, not an easy job. It has to be removed from under the vehicle. First, after disconnecting the battery, remove the "locking" bolt on the topside of the alternator, along with the adjusting bolt (both metric 12mm). This is done from the topside, (rear, right side of the engine compartment). From under the vehicle, loosen the bolt that holds the alternator. At this point you have to decide whether to loosen the exhaust manifold or motor mount. I choose the motor mount. I loosened the mount and used a floor jack to raise the engine, only needed about an inch. Good luck.

How do you change an alternator on a rover 75 diesel

Changing alternator for Rover 75 Petrol
Disconnect your battery first

1. You need full set socket spanners2. Remove the engine cover- it has 2 bolts3. Remove the engine mounting - it has 7 bolts-before you remove the mountings support the engine underneath with your wheel jack4. Remove the remove a supporting bar which is front and same level with the alternator- 2 bolts5. After removing the mounting there is lots of space to work on now6. Remove the alternator mounting -2 bolts and remove the connections7. If you want adjust the tensioner- but it can be done without adjusting the tensioner. you need a special tool to release the tensioner8. Put back the new alternator. Fit the belt on all other pukleys and then slide it in the front smooth pulley that is posterior to the dip stick....and replace all bolts....

Things You'll Need:
  • Battery terminal wrench
  • Serpentine belt removal tool
  • 3/8-inch ratchet
  • 3/8-inch metric socket set
  1. Turn off the engine and place the transmission in park (automatic) or first gear (manual). Engage the parking brake and open the hood. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal using the battery terminal wrench.

  2. Remove the serpentine belt by inserting the end of the serpentine belt tool into the square hole on the belt tensioner and rotating the removal tool clockwise. Unplug the alternator's electrical connector. Remove the bolt holding the positive voltage cable to the alternator using a 3/8-inch ratchet and a metric socket. Remove the positive voltage cable from the alternator.

  3. Remove the alternator bracket bolts using a metric socket connected to a 3/8-inch ratchet. Remove the alternator from the car. Place the new alternator in the mounting brackets and reinstall the mounting bolts using a 3/8-inch ratchet connected to a metric socket.

  4. Reinstall the positive voltage cable on the alternator and tighten the retaining nut using a 3/8-inch ratchet and a metric socket. Plug in the alternator's electrical connector. Compress the serpentine belt tensioner using the serpentine belt tool. Reinstall the serpentine belt according to the belt-routing diagram located under the hood.

  5. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery using the battery terminal wrench. Start the engine and verify that the alternator works.

Need to replace the alternator in a 1998 isuzu rodeo

I have a 1998 Rodeo and just replaced the alternator. If I may make a suggestion, pay someone to do this. It took two of us 4 hours to replace. I am not a certified mechanic, but I know a few things about cars. I thought that I would replace it myself and save a little money! Big mistake. It is EXTREMELY hard to get too and there is NO room to work. Once you get it out, you would think that the new one would just slip back in place, not the case. I will take the car in and have it done next time. To answer your question though, yes you need to go at it from under the right side of the engine. you will need to go from the top to loosen some of the bolts. Hope this helped! Good luck!

How to remove alternator

Park vehicle on level ground.
2. Remove battery from vehicle.
3. Remove air cleaner outlet hose, engine under cover ( right side ) and exhaust pipe # 2 .
4. Disconnect " B " terminal wire and coupler from the Alternator ( Generator ) .
5. Remove Alternator ( Generator ) belt.

6. Remove power steering pump. Do not disconnect hoses.
6. Remove Alternator ( Generator ) cover.
7. Remove Alternator ( Generator ) bracket mounting bolts.
8. Remove Alternator ( Generator ).

Power Steering pump has three bolts- 2 behind the pulley at 12 and 6 o'clock and one bolt on the back.

Once you get the power steering pump out of the way you can remove the last bolt on the alternator

Ok...I did not remove axle or disconnect hoses on power steering...I did unbolt power steering pump and moved off to side.

after that I disconnected sensor on throttle body and very carefully lifted alternator through the top where your air intake assembly would have been at, right next to A.C. refrigerant lines. It takes a minute , you HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE SENSOR!!

However it is a lot faster that taking off drive shaft and exhaust pipe!

If you go to AutoZone .com they have exploded diagrams of the parts you have to take off and they will show you bolt locations, the power steering pump bolt at 6 o'clock drove me crazy.

P.S. Get a ratcheting 12 mil wrench, it's a life and knuckle saver!!
