Question about 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix
Water in the oil is never good. How do you know it's water and not antifreeze? Are you running water in the cooling system? Does the car still run OK? Which engine do you have?, The 2.3 or 3.1, or the 3.4 or the 3.8? They all can do bad things if lead astray the 2.3 is the bad one as it's pushed to breaking to run fast with the heavy car. It'll run and it'll blow after they get old or not maintained enought. True water not engine coolant, has to be determined how it got in there. wter is heaver than oil and can be drained out till the water stopps running and oil starts coming out. put the plug back in cheak the oil and run it. The problem is if you run the engine to full operating temp or higher the oil and water will mixinto and (Baby do-do ) Mess. This is not good lobe for the motor and all hell can break loose. Change all the fluilds unless you know the water was the coolant. The 2.3 if the water pump were to leak it puts it's leak coolant rith into the oil. After the engine gets too hot it warps the head enough to leak at the head gasket. The beginning of the end. If you keep running it like this the engine can't be repaired. Look for a mechanic that has done alot of these engines and you might et a good deal that will run for awhile if you can't find this preson that'll do the job for less than #500 I'd advise to trade or Junk the car. This is'nt the case for the other motors as only the 2/3 is this bad and yes you can kill em all if you try hard enogh but the others can stand much more adbust the thier water pumps don't leak into the oil.

Possible failure of Engine head- if there is mis firing in the cylinder.
Possible faiilure of the water jackets to the main outlet.
Possible problem in the water pump section.
So if your engine seems to fire and work fine the leak is somwhere in the engine jackets but in both the cases it needs immediate attention, to remove and identify before you have a costly maintenance.
