Question about Pontiac Aztek

1 Answer

I have a 2003 Pontiac Aztek and the wipers have slowed down to almost no movement. Is this the wiper motor going bad or is there a board/relay that controls the motor which may need replacing?

Windshield wipers are broken.

Wiper motor rarely goes bad, and a second one going bad as well is extremely rare. What will burn out a motor is very high resistance to movement from the wiper assembly. Do the following: Take out the wiper motor, and move the wipers by hand to see if they are hard to move, or if the arms (rod mechanism) are rubbing against anything. Do this with the blades in normal position, resting against the windshield. Pour water unto windshield while testing it, to avoid scratches. One telltale sign for this condition, is the wipers going too slow before complete stoppage. Either that, or an electrical connection leading to the wiper motor, for that simply check that there is electricity in the wiper motor connector when wipers are activated.

This is a sign that your wiper motor and circuit board is failing. You will need to purchase a new wiper motor assembly.

this is no easy trouble shoot! GM put a few thing on there that could cause a problem . First there is a pulse bourd on the wiper motor that could go bad . second it could be that that part of the switch has went bad , check the fuses . Hope this can be of some help to you !!
