There is a check ball in the fuel tube that leads to the tank if that is stuck you will not be able to fill it up, i have seen some people sneak a metal coat hanger in there to hold it open to see if that help them out.

I have a 2002 grand prix and it will not let me put gas in i can put about .3 gal before it spits gas back out i'm not to sure what it can be any ideas?

there is a canister next to the fuel tank called a purge solenoid. this is a small check ball that allows air into the tank as you are filling it. trace the line comming from you uel inlet nozzle.... the valve is stuck shut, causing the gas pump to shut off because it thinks the pressure in the tank is high.

3.8 litre park ave seems to crank right up but spits and shuts off immediately. If I continuallypumpthe gas,it seems to 'catch up and rev up vety high. When I stop pumping,it spits and shuts off.

Is the check engine light on while the engine is running ?
If it is I would start there for clues.
If not, the list of possibilities is long.
You should check the fuel pressure and probably the throttle position sensor resistance. It could have a vac leak too.

It may have jarred the fuel level indicator, in which case your options are: Get out the tools, and find where the wire was damaged (Or may have to get a new indicator if it is broken), or may have to live with guessing on how far you've got left.

2004 gmc pickup gas wont go in tank

the evap. vent solenoid is stuck closed or plugged so the vapors cant escape when replaced by gas causing the fuel to back up and shut the pump off. i think the solenoid or valve as sometimes called is behind the l. rear tire inner fender needs to be removes for access

My 1999 Oldsmobile Alero Gas gauge and fuel system

well # 1 the full gauge when empty is a sign that your fuel pump is bad and that needs to be replaced the part about spitting the gas back out is probrobly a clog between the fuel door and the tank itself or their might be a vapor lock door that might be stuck shut so fuel cant get in im not 100%sure about that but im 100%sure that the fuel guage is the fuel pump being dead.
