Fuses keep blowing i n different places in a 99 ford ranger, what could be the problem

What you may be able to do about this problem is get a wiring diagram from the "help" section of the Autozone site or just do a Web search for the diagrams.

Make a record of which fuses are breaking or have broken in the past. These are fuses which failed because they were too light to carry the current. They will help you find your problem. When the ground connection fails on the problem connection the electric will jump to the path of least resistance. Your heavier fuses will silently carry the extra load of whatever is causing the problem. It may have been doing this for years but now shows up when the electric jumps to a lighter fuse and breaks it.

By looking at your wiring diagram you can see all the shared connections. This will help you trace the problem connection. The process is not foolproof because a melted wire can burn into another wire and become something that is not in the wiring diagram.

Second alternative: a few Dealerships can have a machine which tests the wiring loom connections. The machine plugs into each wiring loom connector and through the settings will show what each wire is doing. Since some connectors, sometimes called "pin" connectors may be part of a 100 wire bundle, this machine can test 100 wires at a time. By unplugging portions of an extended run of wires the problem wire can be isolated between 2 points and then fixed or replaced.

I hope this helps you.

I have a 1981 Cadillac Eldorado I just changed the fuel pump and the fuse keeps blow the small black negative wire on my battery was bad then I changed it my car ran for two days fuse still blows help

when you changed the negative wire did you clean the connections to the shell and put all the earthing wires back and clean ? ually id the main negative wire fails that would also mean that there could be a problem with the other wires. the copper wire in the wiring can go black and the wire becomes weak and cracks. if the earth wires are weak and you change a wire this can over load the weaker wires in the system . check the wiring, also check the wiring for heat if any wire is getting hot. if its just the pump wiring and nothing else is blowing the fuse. check the wires from the pump to the shell also check the main wire from the pump to the relay. even a relay can cause a problem. if the wires are hard and stiff this means they can brake and split. hope this help you find the problem.

I have a 1995 s-10 and left brake light doesn't work. Replace bulb and fuse. Tail light works. Right brake light works. Would this be a wiring problem or what?

could be a wiring problem or a problem in the bulb socket or bulb panel. If you have a trailer wiring receptacle then the problem may be where the wires were spliced into for the trailer plug. Alot of people use what is called scotch locks to tap into the wiring for the trailer lights and they are prone to corrosion and cutting the wire in two.

Car to trailer wiring problem

most likely the trailer wires dont match the truck wires. you will need to verify that the truck is wired correctly and then that the trailer is wired to match your truck. problems usually arise after someone has BORROWED a tralier and made the trailer wires match THEIR truck trailer wiring here is standardized but people wire them up any way the can, and it causes problems when that trailer is borrowed or sold.

My 1996 honda accord was in a front end accident about 3 months ago. I had problems starting it so my dad removed the SRS fuse and it ran. Now it is having the same problem without the SRS fuse installed....

the fuel pump positive wire must have been cut in the accident and is shorted to sheet metal in the wire harness, look around the area's of damage for a damaged wirng harness.
