That sounds like a transmission going bad to me.If it is shifting hard/winding out, maybe herky jerky too. With the rough running, truck shaking, and rough idle,it very much sounds it.Check the transmission fluid.Let it run for 5 minutes, leave it running and do at least 4 or 5 dips with the stick. If you see anything other than fluid such as metal chips or flakes, that is a definite indicator. If you do decide to replace the transmission,it is best to buy a new one,if one is available for your year.I have seen many people have disappointing results with used or rebuilt ones. You should call a couple shops and ask for their opinion, get estimates from different shops.NOT AAMCO.Someone is always willing to give a free opinion over the phone because it helps attract business.Sorry you already replaced all that stuff, but if you buy a new tranny, that truck will go another 20 years I bet.Good luck! Greg
That is a very good possibility.Cheaper than a tranny too.Sorry I didn't mention that at least. It should be a speed sensor or something that tells what the RPMs are for shifting so it doesn't wind out.No metal is a great indicator too.Sorry about that.If you decide I wasn't enough help or did not solve it properly no hard feelings.I am not in it to make as much money as possible.I answer at least 10x more freebies than $ ones.Good luck! Greg You must be in the south or out west to have a 1986.

I did change the filter and fuild and it wasnt burnt and no medal in the pan.
Isnt there a shift sensor bolted to the top of the trans case. There is some type of switch on top of the trans. When it shifts it shift hard. I did change the filter and no metal in the bottom of the pan
