Question about 1986 Ford F150 SuperCab
That sounds like a transmission going bad to me.If it is shifting hard/winding out, maybe herky jerky too. With the rough running, truck shaking, and rough idle,it very much sounds it.Check the transmission fluid.Let it run for 5 minutes, leave it running and do at least 4 or 5 dips with the stick. If you see anything other than fluid such as metal chips or flakes, that is a definite indicator. If you do decide to replace the transmission,it is best to buy a new one,if one is available for your year.I have seen many people have disappointing results with used or rebuilt ones. You should call a couple shops and ask for their opinion, get estimates from different shops.NOT AAMCO.Someone is always willing to give a free opinion over the phone because it helps attract business.Sorry you already replaced all that stuff, but if you buy a new tranny, that truck will go another 20 years I bet.Good luck!
