Question about 2000 Nissan Maxima
You will indeed have to replace the engine wiring loom and the control unit. However changing the control unit will deliver it's own set of problems as it is programmed for the specific car and not interchangeable. It may also have water damage which is why the auto engine will not start.
This will involve removing the dashboard and centre console to get at the harness and PCM. It is not a job recommended for the layman.
