Question about GMC Sierra 1500

2 Answers

I replaced my manual front seats with power seats from a 00 Sierra. Both seats work perfectly but I now have a permanent message on my dash telling me to service the air bag. The only thing that I didn't transfer over was the weight sensor bag(?) in the seat of the passenger seat. I cut the tube below the cushion, crammed a bolt into the tube to try to replicate the pressure from a passenger, and clamped the tube to the bolt. I don't need or want the passenger sensor. The pickup is a crew cab. Is there any way to reset the air bag or to trick out the system? The dealers won't even talk to me unless they can restore the vehicle to original. I see a $500 to $1000 bill once they get started.

No, there is nothing wrong with the seat belt. Yes, I am well aware that I will probably have to go to a dealer. I contacted FixYa to see if there was an alternative to a dealer. And no, the airbag is not controlled by or read by a typical mechanics equipment. I have been told that only the dealers have the airbag system reader.

Thanks. That is what I thought, but I was hopeful.

Hi,

Unfortunately, this light cannot be reset without taking the vehicle to dealer. I understand the frustration, however this is not a DIY. I wish there should be a way to bypass, however as of now i have never heard of any bypass for this.

This could be anything from a fault with a front end discriminating sensor to the sensing diagnostic module, to even a faulty with one of the air bag modules or the wiring to and from these items. The only way you are going to be certain is by hooking up a scan tool and checking the sensing diagnostic module for trouble codes. This requires a scan tool that can read body failure codes such as the inflateable restraint system. If you have access to one of these tools and can retrieve and post the associated trouble code or codes I can really begin to assist you. I wish I could tell you there was another way but there just is not.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Check the passenger side seat belt buckle If its faulty then the buckle needs to be replaced.Other possibility is a bad sensor in the passenger seat. There is no reset, you have to take it to a repair shop and get the codes read to see what is causing the light to come on.Usually just a sensor. When it is repaired the shop can use a scan tool to reset the light. This would be the the only way to reset the light.its advisable to get car scanned at diagnosis center to get error codes, At diagnosis center you will receive the error code.As per the error code it will detect the exact faulty part in the car due to which the problem is occurring. For more help :--- at www.autozone.com its absolutely free to get car scanned. Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

2003 gmc sierra 1500 electric seat front want tilt but back will

Make sure there are no obstructions under the seat. Check the switch first. If the other functions are working then the power circuit is OK. I have a feeling its the motor. Best way to check the system is to unbolt the seat from the floor and lean it back to gain access for testing. It could be a broken cable or pivot points frozen also. But I still feel its the motor. This is a system that is generally not used often and the motors have a tendency to stick. While holding the switch down tap on the motor with a hammer to see if it starts working.

Check the fuse located underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Flip over the plastic fuse box cover lid and you will find a diagram that shows what fuse controls the seat. Replace that fuse with the same number fuse.

On my 2003 yukon I have no heated front seats working and no power seat for the drivers side.

Look in the fuse box on the driver's side of the vehicle on the outboard side of the dash under the triangular cover which snaps off and on. This panel is not visible when the door is closed. If you have your owner's manual, look on page 5-104. This is where the fuses and relay/circuit breaker descriptions, layout, and specifications begin. This section runs to page 5-111.
You are going to check fuse number IGN3, a red plastic, stab-in miniature 10Amp fuse. It has an "S"-shaped element visible through the side of the fuse body. If the element is broken or burned, replace this fuse. DO NOT use a replacement fuse of ANY other rating; use an identical 10Amp fuse ONLY.
You are also going to look for the "Center Instrument Panel Fuse Block," located under the instrument panel, to the left of the steering column. You are going to check the device labeled "30A CB Seat." This is driver and passenger seat module circuit breaker. This circuit breaker is an automatic resetting device, replacement is necessary only if there is no other problem, and it will not reset.
If only the driver seat is affect, the problem is not the CB Seat; check the wire harness and connector under the seat. There is almost no clearance under the seat, and it may needs be removed to check this. There are four 14mm or 15mm bolts, one at each outboard corner of the seat, the front ones under snap-on plastic covers, which anchor the seat to the vehicle. These bolts are installed with an anti-seize anchoring compound which make them difficult to remove, but aside from elbow grease, there is no other trick to removing them.
Good luck, and if I have helped you, please remember to comment/vote.

Drivers power seat will not move forward or back.

check first to make sure there is nothing caught in the track or under the seat or there maybe a bad wire on the power motor itself and yes there should be a fuse or relay check under the dash for the box there and the diagram will tell if you if one is there or check the relay box under the hood for the relay for it
