Question about 2000 Hyundai Elantra

1 Answer

My 2000 Hyundai Elantra eats spark plugs & wires every year or so--thoughts about why? The plugs don't look gunked up or anything when I replace them, but I'm still getting a cylinder mis-fire.

Check the heat range of the plugs you are using ,also try the bosch 3 electrode plugs and if they still gum up then renew the piston rings and the valve guide seals

Does a 2002 hyundai elantra has fuel injectors ?

Yes it does. A fuel injector is a device that atomizes and then delivers the fuel into the cylinder just before the piston squeezes the fuel and air mixture and the spark from the spark plug fires. Ergo your 2000 Hyundai Elantra being a 4 cylinder vehicle, has 4 fuel injectors.

My 2000 Hyundai Elantra runs rough and my code reader says that cylinder #1 is miss firing. I replaced the spark plug and gaped it, checked the wires and they are good, replaced the injector and the coil...

Is your check engine light on? I have the same probelm with my 2002 Elantra. I think it may be connected to the O2 sensor with regulates the emissions, and can cause poor fuel economy. I know I need to get it fixed, but am waiting for funds to do so. Does it seem worse after you fill it with gas? I am just curious since that is what mine does.

2001 elantra, check engine light comes on and I get a cylinder 2 misfire

Inspect #2 spark plug and the ignition wire to it. Inspect the connector to the plug and to the coil... replace as needed.

I try to crank the car and it just turns over but not crank.

could be anything from a fuel pump to a broken timing belt to a no spark condition. i'd pull a plug wire, put a spark plug in it, hold the plug to somthing metal on the engine and see if i had spark first. if so then move to checking fuel pressure. then finally compression. if the timing belt breaks you'll have no compression on several cylinders
