SOURCE: car alarm will not go

If the car has a kill switch, this is causing your car not start because its connected to the ignition or starter. Sounds like the alarm system is defective. If it's aftermarket, you might want to take it back to installers. If it's factory, take it to the dealer. The remote ties into several features that require a trained technician to handle.

The evaporative emissions system prevents hydrocarbon (HC) vapors from the fuel tank from escaping into the atmosphere where they could form photochemical smog. Gasoline vapors are collected in the charcoal canister. The Canister Closing Valve (CCV) closes off the air inlet into the canister for leak detection of the evaporative emission system. The CCV also prevents fuel vapors from escaping from the canister. When the engine purges the HC vapors from the canister, the clean air comes into the canister through the canister air-filter and the CCV.

1. Ignition "OFF". 2. Disconnect CCV connector. 3. Measure resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the CCV connector(Component side). Specification : Approx. 23~26Ω at 20°C(68°F)
4. Is resistance within the specification? YES ▶ Go to next step as below. NO ▶ Check CCV for contamination, deterioration, or damage. Substitute with a known-good CCV and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace CCV and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.Terminal and Connector Inspection

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

I have two codes come up when checking why my check engine light is on. P0447 and P0420. Any info on what these mean and what it takes to fix so I can pass my smog test??

press the helpful button
Definition of P0420 is catalyst below threshold. This is indicative of (among other things) a converter that is not working as efficiently as it should be (according to specs). Catalytic converters are not normally a "wear" type item, that is they are not deisgned to wear out and need replacement. If they have failed, it is likely due to something else that caused it to fail.

P0447 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Circuit Open. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected an open within the circuit that controls the vent valve or solenoid for evaporative emission systems vapor.

Hyundai Tiburon P0447

You can try disconnecting the battery for a minute then driving about 15-20 miles on the highway while trying to stay at about 55. This will often rebalance the sensors in the emissions system. Note: you must drive the minimum distance required by your ECU, or you'll fail inspection automatically due to lack of adequate feedback from your your OBD.
